as other posters have referenced, being a newcastle fan from norn iron, this would be a dream come true! Truth is, he has NEVER done it at club level and is pretty un-neccessary ie. we need a target man as a focal point of our attack. Plus if dennis wise really is director of football (open brackets, shag brackets, close brackets) i would really doubt the substance in this, he didnt even rate him at Leeds and played him right wing!

If NUFC are offered Frings and say no, with the current 'calibre' of our playing squad, we're doomed. Yes I like the idea of bringing in younger players for the future but it is essential to have quality players around them to learn from, and Frings is a world class example of such. Hate to be a doom & gloomer, but I just can't help feeling bemused at the mo. In reality Spiderman is unproven (&pretty much unheard of!) & Guthrie is an average big 4 cast off, nothing is coming from the club, the only thing we seem to be hearing little sound-bites of is this transfer policy of bringing in young players, plus we've cut an extremely small squad size down further since the season ended....not many positives to grab hold of at the mo!

I also live away from the city(norn iron!) and just love the reaction you get as a toon fan! I especially loved KK's return game when I got out the old asics (glory days) kit and the abuse I took was unreal, just loved the fact that because of one man we were suddenly back in the thoughts of glory hunting (no but really I supported Man Utd/Chelsea since I was 2 blah, blah blah) fans! Also love the reaction the whole car thing gets as well, I've a mini home top up in the car and the tax disc holder from the club shop, and it always gets a reaction, particluarly from the kids in the schools I coach in!

I know he's been mentioned in the thread before, but just how realistic do we think Xabi Alonso would be? Awesome player, knows the prem and Juve have basically confirmed theyre no longer in for him, plus Liverpool seem to need the cash! Milner plus cash, say 5 mil or so? IMO a dream signing!

too true man! The whole arshavin thing has really annoyed me, similar style to Modric and equally as good, proven in europe and continually linked, but no action whatsoever! Really would be the answer to our creativity problems in midfield! (along with arda!) Bent I'd have here in a shot and think he could really flourish under KK! Why? He's an absolutely first class keeper at a very young age(in gk terms!) Really developed over the past few years, highlighted by last seasons wonderful and sometimes unreal displays! And before anyone goes on about how crap the SPL is (usually people who dont watch it!) he was superb in europe also! 6 mil for shagger# would be unreal piece of business! #he really will shag anything! Just a shame we never really pursued Hutton too, ideal KK attacking full back who defos would have joined us ahead of spuds to be closer to home (he was forced by rangers to go!)

When you here 'the new...' anyone you tend to think aye dead on but everything about him smacked of the drog, in particular the first! This one player highlights why the club MUST be moving in on their targets pre EURO's, we've been linked from January, not made a move, he has a blinding tournament a winds up with a bigger club, when he could have been in black and white! Modric is a cert to have a blinding tourni, Turan the same and any other potentials that are there, making them unattainable for us and leaving it to be a very frustraiting summer! Fook me throw me a positive KK quick!

Turan and Zarate, yes please! If we can tie up Turan before Euro 2008 we could probably get a real bargain if he has a blinding tournament, plus help heal the Modric affair! (yes I'm still reeling!) As for Zarate, I have said before how good I think he is and how much we need to sign him, would love it!

realistic targets lads for SQUAD players we could get in on the cheap. Of the players I listed only Zarate and Muamba would be starters IMO, but I think McFadden and Larsson would be good squad players, both regular internationals with prem experience!

If Huddlestone is available, he would be a quality singing! Also really hope we go in for Muamba, really good defensive mid but gets about the pitch, young but plenty of prem experience. I think Brum will sell this summer and we should go in for Larsson, Zarate, McFadden and Muamba.

Out of Crouch, Ashton and Bent I honestly vbelieve Coruch would compliment our system the best, fantastic at binging the ball down and bringing others into play. I really rate Ashton but the injury record scares me, and Bent I rate as well, basically any would be a good singing, even two of! But this Gomis guy is really making me think, everything I see of him (not much admittedly) is excellent and is the right age, just get the feeling if we dont get in for him he'll go elsewhere and blossom into a world class player! Can anyone understand why we avent bought fookin ashavin yet though? Have been linked since last summer, has had a quality UEFA Cup campagin and is Russias captain, if we're not in for him now and he has a good EURO we'll be modriced! Surely he would be the logical answer to not getting Modric?
