  1. Harper - 6 Simpson - 6 Coloccini - 7 Williamson - 7 Enrique - 8 Routledge - 6 Guthrie - 8 Nolan - 8 Jonas - 7 Carroll - 6 Lovenkrands - 8
  2. What a mincer Morgan is. He was clearly warned by the ref before the corner went in, only for him to commit the exact same foul again. Not that I'm complaining or anything
  3. We've lacked creativity but that's to be expected with Bristol having everyone bar their strikes behind the ball. Generally we've been more fluid in possession than we normally are away from home and have dominated the half. Noticed that Harper's playing it short a lot more as well, which is slightly encouraging. Best has at least worked hard, been strong on the ball and got on the end of a few chances. I think he can come good. Guthrie and Jonas have been shocking though imo. Need much more from them both if we're to get back into this.
  4. I realise this is a different standard of officiating, but Arsenal, arguably the archetype of incisive, pacy football, have only had 3 penalties in the league this season.
  5. What's he, 19? He's been class considering his age every time I've seen him. Yep, 19. I think he's got a massive future.
  6. Thought James McCarthy was very impressive, has a great engine for his age. Definitely worth a look if we go up, would improve our midfield by no bounds.
  7. If Peter lost his balance as a result of having to hurdle the onrushing goalkeeper, is it still not the denial of a clear goal-scoring opportunity?
  8. Pancrate puts in an apparently fantastic ball. Lovenkrands rounds keeper and is brought down Pancrate sounds like he's having a good game.
  9. This. You'd think with the success we've had of late with Nolan and Guthrie in the centre that Butt would stay out of the side and Taylor or Pancrate would come in on the right. Pretty baffling from Hughton if true.

    Danny Guthrie

I'll have to take your word for that one, because I haven't seen it while he's been here, aside from Reading under KK. In that match Geremi looked like Zidane though. I thought he was class against WBA and Villa last season. Drove the team forward by himself at times and that sort of leadership and influence is something that's been missing from the team this season.

    Danny Guthrie

He was poor on the whole but I thought he was the spearhead of our attack in the last 15 minutes or so. Nice passage of play from him for the goal.
  12. We've been absolutely dicked on. Guthrie, Nolan, Carroll just retire now.
  13. what he said At least Nolan has made some good passes through the defence. He's no more guilty of being crap than the rest of the team. Let's not exagerate, Nolan has hit ONE decent pass. 2 - one to Routledge and one to Van Aarnholt.
  14. Swansea's quality on the ball has made this very frustrating to watch from our point of view but really they've created little and Nolan's arguably had the best chance of the match in our favour. What I would say is that Carroll's touch means that he is just not good enough to play as a targetman. I haven't actually seen Best play yet, but the reports on here suggest that he's decent with his back to goal, and having someone in that mould would do us a world of good in terms of possession. Undecided about Nolan; he's had at least two complete moments but he's played a couple of class balls and has had our best chance of the game. The most important thing at the end of the day is that there's 45 minutes left to improve and it's still 0-0.
  15. Had they not lost 6 at home so far? They beat Forest and held West Brom at home though.
  16. At least Scunthrope sound like they're giving West Brom a game.
  17. Can't have too many complaints about the result. We got exactly what Hughton's abysmal squad selection merited and Leicester probably deserved to win on the balance of play. Harper - 7: That daft throw put aside, he was pretty faultless. Taylor - 6.5: Don't think all the criticism he gets is warranted. He was carrying us forward almost single-handedly in the last 10 minutes. Colo - 7: Decent. Williamson - 7: Impressive. Looks quite slow but very solid otherwise. Van Aarholt - 6.5: Going forward, he showed real signs of quality - two decent efforts on goal and a lethal cross for Nolan that should have been turned home. That said, I think he struggled to find a balance between attack and defence; he was caught out of position on a few occasions, and with Guthrie offering little defensively, we may well have suffered as a result. Routledge - 6.5: Bright, lively, adventurous. It's refreshing to see someone other than Jonas or Jose actually run at a man. Some clever touches and a decent delivery on the whole. Thought he faded a tad when he was put on the left but I think he's going to be a real success here. Butt - 4: Just woeful. Constantly gave away possession, constantly caught watching butterflies or some shit on the ball and he can't shoot for anything. Smith - 5: Marginally better than Butt, but still very sluggish. Guthrie - 5.5: Some nice passes and touches obscured by a pretty anonymous display in all fairness. Disappointing, but perhaps inevitable given where he was played. Carroll: 5: Awful. No movement, no flair, no effort either. Just because he is tall does not mean that Carroll is automatically a good target man. He wins headers, sure, but they go nowhere and his hold-up play is pretty poor for a guy his size. I've not seen much of late to see why he should be starting ahead of Ranger. Nolan - 5: Did little, and when a chance finally came his way, he fluffed it. Subs: Ranger - 6: Did more in 20-25 mins than Carroll did in 90. Pancrate - 6: Showed the real need for width in this side. When Fabrice came on, Taylor was gifted far more time on the ball which was crucial in maintaining pressure towards the end.
