  1. I think Nolan and Barton have to be looked at as separate cases. Nolan is a model professional. For all his physical faults, he's the player other players look up to plus he has a knack for being in the right place at the right time. He's been consistent and the intangibles he brings to the dressing room and the pitch are worth a premium. As much as I appreciate what Joey Barton brought to the pitch last year, he's no Kevin Nolan. Last year was the only good full year he's given the club and while he's made great strides in his personal life the fact that he's been known to pop off about the England team in the manner that he did still make me believe that he still has unresolved issues that could undermine his performance. He's in the last year of his contract and if he wants to land another good one, he has to play well again this year and keep his reputation intact. Were I running the club I'd sit Nolan down, tell him how much I appreciate his influence and ask him to let things get sorted out over the next year and revisit an extension prior to the last year of his contract. Then I'd tell Barton that I'd need to see him duplicate last season's effort before I offered him a new deal.
  2. Typo mate, fixed it for you. Really needs a NSFW tag First I started dancing then it triggered a rage and well, they're trying to put me in cuffs as I ty
  3. I just assumed every Geordie lad growing up today dreams of wearing 23.
  4. Hughes seems better suited to a smaller club that he can get to over achieve. To use an old American saying, he's better at driving a Chevy than he is at driving a Cadillac.
  5. Barton has been great this year. However, at his age he'll regress before he ever improves. It's also the only good, full year he's had during the contract. It's obvious he's been pumping himself up as an England candidate so he can squeeze more money out of the contract. I've no idea what the club offered but given the fact that the club did stand by him while he was in prison, no less, if the club offered him the same weekly terms and a decent signing bonus it would be fair for all if he accepted it. If he wants more money, then yeah, maybe it is time to let him go. Disappointing, but I wouldn't retain him if his demands are over the top. I also understand that Fat Bastard might be undercutting him but if it was an insulting offer made in April, I think we would have heard something about it.
  6. IIRC, weren't NUFC linked to Emana when Keegan was here?
  7. Levi Hansson 39 y/o Faroese Internatioanl mid fielder Get in.
  8. wow, the club are playing with a lot of confidence. Cool with the ball at their feet, nifty passes and some good defending.
  9. I can't believe we've only lost one game against Manu/Chelsea/Arsenal. I can't believe in 03/04, we only drew with Wolves at home and missed out on 4th. The comments are completely meaningless. Wherever we end up will be justified... just as it was the year we went down having only needed one goal at Villa Park. You are what your record says you are.
  10. Best has opened my eyes, he's better than I thought. However, he does seem to be injured a lot.
  11. For the record, I have nothing to do with this.
  12. I have Wigan and Blackpool going down. I really like Blackpool, though, and hope they can stay up.
  13. yep and who didn't enjoy playing with their WMD chemistry set? Aside from that time I killed all the small animals in my neighborhood, it was a blast!
  14. I wouldn't trust anything the owner said yesterday let alone over 3 months ago. Ashley has the attention span of a moth and I hope Pardew can work him on a daily basis and do the club right during the window.
  15. I was impressed. Away at Stamford Bridge. Makeshift midfield. Shit strikers. Then Chelsea score before I can settle in. The players could have packed it in right then but they didn't. Then after Chelsea score late the players could have consoled themselves nt at they played hard and only lost 2-1 but they push on and get the equalizer. If Fat Bastard doesn't recognize that he has something legitimate to build on, he is well and truly stupid. There is a good core of players with spirit. There is some young talent coming through the ranks. Show some ambition, bring in some strikers. Add some depth. Resign Enrique and Barton. It's right there staring him in the face. He's got to see it.
  16. I'm not a fan of Grant but I do feel bad for him. His players let him down. To be up 2-0 against a relgation rival and lose is gutless.
  17. Once again Sol Campbell gets his positioning and anticipation all wrong...
  18. I'm sticking my head in the sand and will commence believing that he is signing a new contract before next season starts.
  19. Williamson is a "hold the fort" kind of guy. Good enough to help you stay mid table but a guy you'd look to upgrade if you want to climb higher. I think he'd be better if he had a little more bulk. He's kind of thin and looks to get pushed around a fair bit which is why he's not a real threat to get on the end of set pieces. Too bad he got hurt, though. He and Colo have been an effective partnership.
  20. Now if Lliambas can figure out how to load FM he can really pretend like he knows what he's talking about. PS: Derek if you read this, just kidding!
  21. LOL, well just so you know it's not some empty moniker, I have amassed nearly $700 (that's over 460 Euros!) and am poised to make the winning bid when Ashley decides to sell on. You might remember that when I requested the name change, I misspelled it and you sorted it out. Let it be known that I haven't forgotten that and when I own the club, you'll have a spot in the owner's box. You'll probably have to pay for it but, hey, you can't have everything.
