  1. Rooney isn't an out and out goalscorer? He's the top scorer in the European qualifiers, he has 9 in his list 8 internationals or some crazy shit like that. Just because he doesn't get loads for Man United doesn't mean he'll be the same in the England side.

Some experience in that Boro squad: Steele (England U19 captain), Digard, Grounds, Hines, Hoyte (all featured for first team).
  3. Defoe has done well as an impact sub, why change that? Heskey is playing well and fulfilling his role, which isn't primarily to score.
  4. SSN: Lescott and Robinson pull out, replaced by Gary Cahill and Joe Hart.

    RIP sale thread.

Exactly, this is just as much about good publicity for SP as it is for giving a balanced view. Not saying they're actively lying to the papers though, that's Llambias' job.
  6. Yeah, I reckon Lennon >> SWP at the moment, and I think Green deserves to keep his place for the moment. Walcott's the interesting one, Capello won't have forgotten that hat-trick and playing at Arsenal he'll be suited to the crisp passing of international football. He'll be in the squad for sure, and can provide cover up front, but for the time being Lennon's in too good form to be left out imo. Green gets it by default for me. Walcott will probably be in the next squad, as he's just come back from injury. SSN has just said Walcott got a "surprise" call-up to the U21's today, so maybe Capello wants Stuart Pearce to keep an eye on his fitness etc, and then add him to the squad if anyone drops out.

  9. Ridgewell > Cahill is a fucking ludicrous argument

    RIP sale thread.

These two weeks without games could be blessing, imagine if we had three games and we won the lot, it might scupper any bid entirely.
  11. I agree with the bold, not sure about the underlined though. Ferdinand has looked quite shaky for club and country for a little while now, I reckon Upson has done very well in his absence.
  12. Although Capello always says he picks his squad on form, I reckon the likes of Rooney will always be in there even if they're playing shit, and there'll be some who'll never get in no matter how well they play.
  13. Busquets deserves his place in there imo. I reckon you could do with a fourth striker too.
  14. The bloke waving the notes at Barry was brilliant btw.
  15. I just don't think he's very good. Other options, Micah Richards? I reckon Jagielka might be there instead if he was fit.
  16. Full England squad to face Ukraine and Belarus: Goalkeepers: Paul Robinson (Blackburn), Robert Green (West Ham), David James (Portsmouth) Defenders: Ashley Cole (Chelsea), John Terry (Chelsea), Glen Johnson (Liverpool), Wayne Bridge (Manchester City), Joleon Lescott (Manchester City), Wes Brown (Manchester United), Rio Ferdinand (Manchester United), Matthew Upson (West Ham) Midfielders: James Milner (Aston Villa), Frank Lampard (Chelsea), David Beckham (Los Angeles Galaxy), Steven Gerrard (Liverpool), Gareth Barry (Manchester City), Shaun Wright-Phillips (Manchester City), Michael Carrick (Manchester United), Aaron Lennon (Tottenham) Forwards: Gabriel Agbonlahor (Aston Villa), Emile Heskey (Aston Villa), Peter Crouch (Tottenham), Carlton Cole (West Ham), Wayne Rooney (Manchester United). Wes Brown ffs.
  17. Tevez was fucking shite btw, as was Santa Cruz. Both of them utterly atrocious.
  18. As much as Dunne got all the plaudits for his goal and being an ex Citizen, I thought James Collins was outstanding tonight. He made probably over twenty or thirty crucial blocks and interceptions and dominared aerially. Lots on here said he was average when MON signed him, he's had a good start to his Villa career from what I've seen of him.
  19. There's always the old organizing some 5-a-side pitches and doing some training at soccerdome alternative?

    Or Hell freezing over.
  22. Ooh, its on ESPN (HD ) isn't it. Cracking post that Enrique, reminded me to go downstairs and watch the fucker.
  23. Which is a bit pointless considering this Saturday we carved out one or two decent-ish chances for him and he failed to hit the target with them. It brings back the whole Owen-type argument again, why bother playing the player who does fuck-all else but take chances when we're not making good chances? We've done that to death though, so we'll not do it again, unless you want me to talk about Martins for a bit. Having said that though, I reckon Lovenkrands was bullied out of the game this Saturday. He'd be more effective in the hole (ie where Nolan played against Ipswich) in front of two physical strikers, two of Carroll, Ranger, Shola and Harewood.
