Someone said it on here not long after he moved, that Carroll and Liverpool were 'an uneasy fit' and he'd be back here one day. I completely agree, it's one of those transfers that completely knacks the momentum of a player. Similar to Benjani who banged in about 10 for Pompey by January and then made a pointless move to Man City where he got about 4 goals in 3 years. He was settled here, and should have dug his heels in and stayed.
The following statement doesn't apply to everything, but it certainly applies to football managers: You pay peanuts, you get monkeys. Ashley will not be paying anything above peanuts.
I love how all the usual lot keep saying Pardew's a liar and that and yet completely refuse to provide an opinion on his ability to garner points from football matches. It's because they know they'll sound silly if they continue to stick the knife in on that front, and therefore go with what they know.
Probably shouldn't have pointed that out mind, because I suspect I'll get to see Wullie's usual stat about him not beating a top-half team or some other boring drivel that puts Pardew in a needlessly bad light.
Dowd? I'm off to William Hill, putting my life savings on 'NUFC awarded pen'.
Speaking of which... who will take them, presuming Shola isn't playing? Will it still be P-Lov?
Lovenkrands is a decent option against the bottom 6 sides in the league; same goes for Guthrie. Play him against any other team, however, (such as Fulham!) and he's anonymous 9 times out of 10.
It's such a shame to see Plymouth dropping like a stone. They were nothing but excellent when we won the league at their place and they simultaneously went down.
At the minute though, he's behind Ba, Best and Lovenkrands, because the others on that list are injured.
When/if we sign a striker, and those players return to fitness, Sammy could do with a loan somewhere.
I agree. Taylor has shown he's a useful backup option at left-back, but he won't be a patch on someone who's actually played there before. Everyone was up in arms at the prospect of him playing there (me included) but he's performed well above what everyone expected.
Santon getting his debut against SWP could not be better placed. He's a fucking shite winger and it would be great for Santon's settling-in if he could keep the useless little cunt in his pocket.
