But he isn't a full-back. Solano, Duff and Pancrate have had games at full-back for us in recent years and were better than Taylor's showing against Everton. You would argue that playing CB and moving to RB is perhaps easier a transition than moving between full-back and winger, as Simpson showcased nicely for us at the weekend.

I really hope one of our forwards (Airey, Kuqi, anyone) scores a hatful tonight so there's more grounds for Lovenkrands to be dropped. Starting Kuqi away at Stoke might not be the worst idea in the world.

We didn't miss Taylor one bit last season. We looked tighter in defence with Williamson, or even with Fitz Hall for christs sake.

I reckon putting Taylor on Carroll would see another one of those mismatches such as Carragher vs Drogba or Martins vs Dawson. He'd be absolutely done up the arse.

I'm sure I've just read on the official site that king-sized physio Derek Wright managed to avoid Taylor's attentions and volley in the winner in that training tournament.
