Will any of our players go on to manage us one day?
dinotheprehistoricgeordie replied to Tiresias's topic in Football
Yup, Lee Clark hasn't done that well. Wouldn't want him here. Ketsbia is the only former player I'd want managing us atm. -
Talking about replacing him is pointless, as many people have said we won't get anyone better in. I'm so bored of watching us attempt to play football though. So many times when we went forward we were clueless. Our play is so static it's maddening. We pass the ball up to Marveaux and expecting him to do something without any support. He passes it back to Tiote who passes it back to Colo to begin the whole process again, until a player loses patience and attempts a pass or a shot and loses it. Everton were such a stark contrast, there was so much focus and intent when they attacked. They always had an option when going forward. We can't sack Pardew but we really, really fucking need to improve.

Loving the contrast of avatar, quote and post. Why not though? Why do we automatically have to hate someone if they leave the club? He did a great job for us, had no ties with the fans and now has a better offer. For a player who has a potentially career ending injury I can see why he's so motivated by money. But then the majority of footballers are. Just look at Wallcott.

Kevin Nolan. A player who was instrumental in bringing us back to the premier league providing leadership and vital goals at the start of the 2009-10 season while Carroll was still finding his feet. You could also argue, he was instrumental in Carroll's rise as well. Finally, those three goals against the mackems

I think we all are to be honest.

Makes me wonder what we as fans could do to improve our club. If only we could get decent dialogue going with our owners. -

That would be true but a club doing that would simply be fucked if relegated. Wigan are still bankrolled by Dave Whlean to around £10m a year. Ah, fair enough. Still I wouldn't be totally shocked if one day.......... Just read that Guardian article -

I know people are saying that a club couldn't exist without fans but is that even true anymore? The amount of money clubs are getting from Sky etc are constantly increasing. I wouldn't be surprised if at some point in the future it is literally more financially viable for some of the smaller clubs to run themselves without supporters, no stadium costs, no staff to pay etc. Just hire out a field and let the players do their thing Or maybe sell virtual seats to punters in asia. Wigan seem to be doing ok with their 10 fans. -
Even if we go down with Pardew as the captain of the ship? I seriously doubt that will happen. QPR are in serious trouble already and Reading can't seem to keep a clean sheet. We are going through the first rough patch of Pardew's time here, people need to calm down a bit and trust that the players we have will see us through this dip. Don't get me wrong, I'm not happy with the man in charge. The football we've had since he's been in charge has been so, so boring. Barring a few wondergoals the only game I enjoyed watching for any sustained period of time last year was West Brom away. That was only for one half mind. Give him the season and then hope if he hasn't got the team playing or that our owner has someone better lined up. After giving this manager an 8 year deal

He deserves at least this season to turn it around. Firing your manager at the first sign of trouble is stupid. Saying that, I really hope he manages to get us playing again. We really are terrible to watch.
