you're pretty much spot on. grounds for optimism? well the newspapers think good things are just around the corner, but they never are. so theres no point getting your hopes up. just be pleasantly surprised when (if) something good finally happens to our joke of a club.

Bramble was given plenty of chances - was just unable to cut out the lapses in concentration during his time here, usually at crucial moments. He stayed the duration of his 5 year contract and was released as a free agent - hardly like he was run out of the club after a few bad games! the "weren't given a chance" referred to rossi, orr and the caldwells. i agree bramble got plenty of chances and generally messed them up. i'd have him back now though, thats how bad things are!
