8. its three out of us, boro, west brom and stoke
-
who the hells gonna play? harper taylor bassong coloccini enrique jonas geremi butt nzogbia carroll duff the bench can be from: krul cacapa edgar lua lua lovenkrands xisco ameobi smith physioroom says cacapa and ameobi will be ok. also, you'd have thought they'd try to rush martins back early for a game this important. at least a few bodies should be back, despite losing the players with actual quality

we're gonna get sliced and diced. ultimate rape-age. roll on sunday

derbyshire to olympiakos http://www.skysports.com/story/0,19528,12876_4865129,00.html

blackburn close to signing pogrebnyak from zenit......do we have a crying smiley?? i'd like to use it please
-
not quite sure if this belongs here or the "other clubs transfers" thread.........but an unnamed english club are set to sign sunny on loan from valencia. they suggest it might be pompey, but how would people feel if it was us? http://www.skysports.com/story/0,19528,12874_4859635,00.html EDIT: SS have another story on it, looks like it is pompey  EDIT 2: its already on the other thread!! ignore me. EDIT 3: Ok, we will.

and also, for every disaster - like paul ince - theres a david moyes. fact is, there ARE some lower leagues managers who are ready for the step up, its just a matter of identifying whom. but as nixon says, will the big ego's take them seriously?
-
I'd want them for different reasons, really. Martinez and Shearer are exciting because of their age and potential as managers, whereas houllier and van gaal are immensely experienced. it depends what you want in a manager really, and also what state the club will be in come summertime. basically, as long as its not JFK haha
-
Bobby Martinez is brilliant!! He's exactly the type of appointment this club has been scared of making for years, And thats why we should do it. It would signal a new direction for the club and eventually......world domination!! I'd love Martinez, Houllier, Van Gaal or Shearer tbh.
-
15 points should do it. so thats wins againt sunderland, pompey and boro. one win out of fulham/everton and sneak a few draws against out of the WBA, bolton, stoke, hull and arsenal games. its do-able, but im still not optimistic
-
apart from the mackems, thevye been a good set of results. theyve also got stoke, spurs, wigan and hull at home so i'd imagine they're almost safe now
-
but spurs are never going to go down, whereas stoke should do. so i'd sacrifice seeing saggy faced harry win, for our benefit.
-
doesnt matter what david craig says, he's obviously leaving. if we get £8m plus onuoha and use that money to buy a CM, we'll have done alright. maybe get another CM on loan. and if his "one more game" was a derby win over sunderland, it'd be even sweeter. shay and shearer both play their last games for NUFC and defeat the mackems then when shay becomes 2nd choice in the summer, we buy him back for peanuts
-
Could mean he is coming here then? pete graves said it was sunderland. then again, isnt campbell's girlfriend from up here??
-
WBCP is on work experience at century fm and theyve found out he's bought a house in northumberland. pete graves (mackem commentator) confirmed this apparantly.
-
ive heard sol campbell's off to sunderland. dunno how true it is
-
biggest game in the clubs recent history (although a case can be made for almost going down to the 3rd tier!). im absolutely petrified, gonna be a horrible day. if we dont win, we're gonners. but if we win, we give ourselves a fighting chance to stay up. monumental game........the pressures gonna be immense!

http://www.dailystar.co.uk/football/view/67124/Shay-on-his-way/ Shay Given has ‘agreed’ his move to Man City – and Newcastle want England keeper David James to replace him. It’s now a question of mega-rich City and Toon agreeing a fee for Given and there could be a compromise figure of £10million – a British record for a keeper. City have so far had bids of £3m and £6m rejected, with the Geordies valuing the Republic of Ireland No.1 at £14m. The current record for a keeper is the £9m Sunderland paid for Hearts’ Craig Gordon. But that could be broken this week and the fact Newcastle have made enquiries about Portsmouth’s James, 38, indicates United expect Given to quit Tyneside after 12 seasons at the club. James has already played for six clubs – Watford, Liverpool, Villa, West Ham, Man City and Pompey. Meanwhile, a source close to Given, 32, told the Daily Star Sunday: ‘‘Shay wants to go to City and as far as he is concerned, his deal is effectively agreed in terms of the wages he’d be paid and even his image rights. ‘‘He could double his pay to £100,000-a-week and sign a contract for three-and-a-half or four-and-a-half years." Newcastle would seem to have a replacement for Given already at the club in Steve Harper. But he is 33 and out of contract this summer. Newcastle boss Joe Kinnear could ask for City midfielder Michael Johnson to be part of the Given deal. Hughes also wants Blackburn striker Roque Santa Cruz and is unlikely to part with England defender Micah Richards, 20, who has been linked with Liverpool, Wigan and Bolton.

Page 4 of the latest Catflap magazine has "Harry's guide to management". its pretty funny... http://ezine.catflapmag.com/issue69/ It has: "1) Lie about transfers 2) Blame the previous regime for everything 3) Unsettle and buy players from your old club - 4) Unsettle other teams' players - 5) Crush the morale of your sensitive striker 6) Make out that your squad is rubbish" complete with quotes to back them up haha
-
if its the reported £6m plus Bent, the mackems should bite their hand off. gutted if this one goes through
-
Given - Exceptional 10/10 Harper - His loyalty is his downfall 8/10 Beye - Solid 8/10 Bassong - Beast. Find of the season. 8/10 Taylor - Overrated by non-Toon folk. Frustrating 5/10 Collocini - Overhyped, unfortunately 7/10 Enrique - Flashes of promise, bullied by manager 6/10 Edgar - Simple not good enough 3/10 Cacapa - Was a fan until the Fulham game 5/10 Duff - Inconsistent and past his best 6/10 N'Zogbia - Spoiled brat, not as good as he thinks 7/10 Guthrie - Does a solid job. Needs a good partner 6/10 Butt - Experience....thats all he is 5/10 Gutierrez - Magical, but faltered lately 9/10 Barton - We need him, could save our season 8/10 Geremi - Decent back-up, but nothing more 6/10 Smith - World-beater 4/10 Viduka - Rarely seen, almost extinct 7/10 Martins - Predictably unpredictable. A match winner 9/10 Owen - Gooood Riddance 7/10 Carroll - Reserves is at his level 5/10 Ameobi - Hit and miss. A confidence player 6/10 Xisco - Barely used, but he's just not good enough 5/10 Kinnear - Get out of my club. I hate you. You're clueless, you're embarassing and you make me feel ashamed to support NUFC. Seriously, just shut up, go home and LEAVE US ALONE!! 0.00001/10 In summary, we should be fine in goal and up front. We're one beasty CM away from a passable midfield and our first choice defence is good enough.......but one or two injuries there and we're screwed (like right now).

Is that plus cash? While were going wild on Friday night if we can get Robinho & Ireland + cash I would take that over richards and sturridge. Tbf Sturridge is out of contract in the summer. its not that wild tbh. as you say, sturridge is off in the summer. the rags (yeh yeh, unreliable) reckon richards would go for £5m, although i'd say thats way too low. some combination of richards/johnson/sturride/gelson/onuoha would be lovely.
-
the papers linked micah richards with wigan and bolton yesterday. he's had quite the fall from grace. would rather get richards and sturridge than johnson and onuoha. anyday!
