  1. This reminds me of when we played up here against you in the Championship. Played the first half like rabbits in the headlights, you punished us that game. We haven't turned up yet it seems.
  2. http://fourfourtwo.com/blogs/statszone/archive/2011/12/16/liverpool-defend-smart-newcastle-face-different-challenge-amp-rio-fills-vidic-void.aspx Well guess that's somewhat reassuring. thats cause we pass it on the floor (usually in our half )
  3. Dyer was dropped to the bench last game and Routledge played, Routledge also played in the place of Sinclair recently too. Dyers not been at his best last few games, some think its because the usual right back Angel Rangel is out injured, Dyer and Rangel play well together and the replacement, Jazz Richards a youngster, who's improving each game, but is not the attacking player that Rangel is. Routledge has played well when called upon and if he plays will be through the fact he's earned it with his performances. Still not scored though.
  4. Recently Routledge, Dyer and Sinclair have been rotated, so very good possibility of a Routledge start. He's played very well too.
  5. How has Neil Taylor being doing for your lot? How highly do you rate him? He's been playing very well, links well with Sinclair on the left. Highly rated really. We've lost a little on the right though with Angel Rangel being injured, he links well with Dyer. Routledge started instead of Dyer the last game.
  6. I've supported Newcastle as a second team since 1969. Swansea (Town as they were then) were in the 4th division. The nearest first division teams were in London or Birmingham. As a schoolboys, all the kids had their favourite 1st division teams as seen on match of the day about which they would talk about in the school yard. Mostly Leeds, Chelsea, Man U and Everton in those days, for whatever reason I chose Newcastle and stuck with them ever since. I suppose it does seem strange to those who are born and brought up in a City where there is a 'giant' in footballing terms steeped in history, but when your local team is more used to the lower echelons and the nearest 'big' team is 100's of miles away your perception is different as you grow up. Swansea is and always has been my number 1 team as the programs going back to the 60's hold testament to. Newcastle was a great excuse to nip down the pub to watch the mid week games (before I moved to Canada). Used to frequent the Barley Mow in Duke Street a lot when I lived in London too.
  7. Hi guys, Swansea (and Newcastle) fan here, a rare game I actually want Newcastle to lose as its my home team. We're due an away win, we have been close. Our away record has been poor in terms of results as a few have picked up on. Man City 0-4. first game was 0-0 until they brought on their sub whose worth was more than our entire team (including the bench), all goals in the last half hour. Arsenal 0-1, was looking like it was going to be scoreless before a very uncharacteristic mistake by Vorm, where he rolled the ball out at pace and it hit the back of Angel Rangel's legs straight to Arshavin who couldn't miss. Chelsea 1-4 nuff said. Norwich 1-3, we never really started this game, one of the few where we did actually play bad. Wolves 2-2, we threw away a 2 goal lead. Liverpool 0-0, we both had chances to score. Blackburn 2-4, done by the Yak, we didn't play bad just had no answer to Yakubu who scored 4, we pulled back to 2-3 then had Allen sent off for a very weak yellow (his own fault his first yellow was for throwing the ball away). they played some rough tactics, as did Villa the week before which lost us 3 players for this game. So yes our away form is not good but apart from Norwich we haven't been too bad. We'll play keep ball and what's the bet Routledge will score his first prem goal.
  8. Taylor of Swansea with nasty head injury, they just spent 7 minutes strapping him carefully onto a stretcher.
  9. To be honest I have no idea what this will hold for us, like any fan hoping for the best, we'll be in our own mini league at the other end more likely. Target 1 is to beat Derby's record. Not too hopeful tonight, we seem to freeze away to the bigger team, we did against Leeds in the first away game, we did against Newcastle a couple of years ago. A draw would seem a magnificent result. Think QPR will have a long hard season, Blackburn don't look too healthy, Norwich and Wigan may struggle. If we can stay above at least 3 I'll be happy come May.
  10. Swansea are 20% owned by the supporters trust. We're lucky that the rest are owned by local business men who are also fans.
  11. I thought he was one of their most promising players. No, they would be Joe Allen, Daniel Alfei and Lee Lucas
  12. Taylor was at the Swansea training camp today with the team. Some say he cut a lonely figure. http://www.skysports.com/story/0,19528,11095_7034812,00.html?utm_source=twitterfeed&utm_medium=twitter
  13. Absolutely not. The Premier League has already destroyed the dreams of the vast majority of teams and their fans and you think it would be an idea to kill their dreams completely. Is this the only way you think Newcastke would win anything??? You choice of teams awe inspiring. Why have places for current 3rd division teams and none for current Premier league teams, if history and size is all that matters, why include Wigan. If anything like this ever happened I would find another sport to spend all my money on.
  14. Doubt this very much, a dick of a Journo for the Mirror (Paul Smith) who for some reason has something against Swansea is posting these things ion his twitter site. He also says Ashley Williams to QPR (again quoting a non-existent 1 mill buy-out clause). We turned down 2 mill for Williams last season. Smith later owned up to winding the Swans fans up. Taylor signed from Wrexham last summer for 35K initially, this raised to 150K after add ons. He didn't start the season as first choice but eventually made his way in. Quite young and still learning. Some of our fans think we need someone more experienced in this position for the Premiership.
  15. Groo

    Darren Pratley

He's a good player with a very good engine, can run from box to box all game (sometimes with a ball). Scores the odd goal as well. Not an auto first choice for us any more though, on the bench for most games. EDIT: He did play in 1 Premier league game for Fulham
  16. Kuqi's a nice guy and its a shame it didn't come off for him at Swansea, but come on be serious. I don't think he was good enough for Newcastle at his peak, let alone now.
  17. Groo

    Alan Pardew

I was bemused by the signing of Leon Best (no impact in the lower leagues), flabbergasted by the signing of James Perch (couldn't get a regular place in the Forest team) and now I just don't know what to think on Pardew!! If Pardew pulls it off it will be the biggest surprise ever, you can only wish him luck and hope he proves 99% of Toon fans wrong.
  18. The People - Darran Pratley He's currently running down his contract so don't believe the price tag. I presume its a journo filling space though.
  19. I sincerely hope the players don't want to party (just yet) and go all out for the highest point total they can.. there's still the title to win and we could do with a big effort from Newcastle against Blackpool. (pretty please )
  20. well unless peterborough make a fantastical comeback... well done and bloody stay up there this time!!
  21. They look after their own up there, so agree 2 teams to come down, 3 up, then 4 up from League 1 to CCC and 5 from League 2 to 1, with 3 coming in from Conference to League 2.
  22. shows how much you lot know about the lower echelons.... 4 ALREADY get promoted from League 2

  25. With respect, no you didn't. Over the past 3 seasons that has to be the most used sentence we've heard from fans of other teams after we outplay them. We attempt to play that way all the time, from the moment Martinez took over the reigns and Sousa plays with a similar philosophy. When we get it right the opposition does not get a look in. Lack of goals is our achilles heel at the moment, if we had some out and out goalscorers we would definately be top 2. Unfortunately we don't have the budget to go out and buy a proven goalscorer and as a team we work within a tight budget, our highest earner will be not more than 10-12K. As a Swansea supporter I'm worried about the vulture's circulating for our best players, Williams, Dyer, Allen, Pratley must already be turning heads. As a Newcastle fan too, I'm worried about the lack of team building for next season, if promoted. Last time round in this posistion, Keegan was building for the Premiership, players such as Cole were leading the way and a team was being built. What happens next year if Newcastle do go up?? Williamson and Routledge I rate that have been recent purchases, Coloccini is a must to keep. I remember Best from our League 1 days when Forest were after him, he chose Coventry instead and hardly pulled trees to to me the jury's still out. Of the rest Jonas and Taylor and maybe Enrique should have the quality. Newcastle MUST either spend a fortune to stay up OR get a first class manager with the tactical nouse (keep away from ours ).
