Cannot believe Swansea would pay those sort of wages. Sky pay the wages and at no fee, consider a (possibly) lesser player with a 6 million price tag and salary of 40K a week, you'd be talking the same money overall with possibly a nice sale price half way.

C'mon the Toon.. Newcastle comfortable win for me. I don't want to get to the last game hoping Swansea lose

Newcastle United vs Cardiff City - Saturday 3rd May @ 3pm (not on TV)
Groo replied to bowlingcrofty's topic in Football
A win for Cardiff would more than likely take them out of the bottom 3, I'd take a draw, anything but a Cardiff win... they seriously need relegating a division or 3. -
We're free points for you each season at the moment. Let's not take our eyes off the prize you have to beat the mackems on the last day.. Cardiff's next game is Sunderland away, lol, think we'll be wanting different teams to win that. I think false hope for Sunderland will do all good.
-
Oh, and beat Cardiff, if nothing else this season, beat Cardiff

Glad we could help, hopefully Pardew goes now and you guys get the manager you deserve. Also glad that it looks now that this fixture will be on again next year, 3 games left I think 1 more point will do it, we do have Villa at home so hopefully we/ll be safe after that.

Yup that squad is much better than the points tally suggest. Yup that squad is much better than the points tally suggest. Sacking Laudrup and hiring monk was stupidity Sacking Laudrup and hiring monk was stupidity A little unfair there, we've played some very good games under Monk (not this one), whether he'll be manager after the season ends is debatable, probably too soon. We look like a team looking over our shoulders, we've had no luck in recent games, even when we've played well so confidence is low. Laudrup was letting things slip, fitness levels were dropping and Laudrup was just too lax. He was also absent a lot. Monk's record in his games in charge is better than Laudrups last same number of games.

I'd take a draw but I know you guys want us to win Not sure if we're too nervous or what but we've been shit first half, hope we can do better for you second lol.
-
Looks like we'll be without Michu, probably gone for the season. Not that he's been firing at all. Hoping we'll see Routledge, Dyer and Hernandez start. No Chico as well (bless him) Hopefully its a good game, we need to win to get some space between us and the bottom 3. This Europa league, not worth it
-
I know most want him gone but there's the old saying 'be careful what you wish for'. Pardew is not perfect, but look where Newcastle are in the league, the danger is who would replace him. Everyone would all have a first choice, some big name or personal favourite, Laudrup I bet would be high on a lot of people's list and there would be a host of other names. But... we all know it would end up someone like Dennis Wise or Alan Curbishley. Is it better the devil you know?

Time will tell. All I know is that Monk's name has been talked about as a future manager for the last 5 years, such is his reputation at Swansea. Saying that, I can't see him being the permenant manager yet.

I have no idea, every appointment since Flynn 10 years ago has come out of the blue with someone totally unexpected. Flynn was the last one sacked too. The others have been nicked by bigger clubs, like Leicester

Top guy is our Huw. Swansea City Chairman Huw Jenkins believes it’s vital everyone gets behind new Head Coach Garry Monk and moves on quickly from Michael Laudrup’s departure. “Everyone needs to move on; get behind us and focus on Saturday’s game,’’ declared Jenkins. “The fact is, Michael’s time with us has come to an end. But I have found some of the things being said about him today hard to stomach. Much of it has been extremely unsavoury and unnecessary. “Too many people have been trying to play the blame game and unearth disrespectful reasons behind his departure. “We were quite open and honest in our official statement, because that’s the way we are as a club. Since then we have tried to keep our own counsel on the matter because we have nothing bad to say about Michael. “He deserves respect for what he has done in the game and you couldn’t meet a more genuine and honest person. “It’s time to move on.’’ http://www.swanseacity.net/news/article/huw-laudrup-statement-1342386.aspx?#C2oATgMjpv8K7CQc.99

Judging by your post this may come as something as a shock to you but: Swansea and Newcastle are not the same. Newcastle are a bigger club, have better players, more money, higher salaries and more fans than Swansea. Newcastle United also have a gym for their players, Swansea don't. I'll have you know we do have a gym and not 1 but 2 nice shiny new training grounds!!

Lots of rumours on Laudrup been doing the rounds, not as interested as he should be and a number of players not as fit as should be. Sounds like Jenkins tried to fix whatever was wrong today but in the end gave up. Monk's been talked about as a future manager for some time, not saying he'll be the full time manager yet but I know he's highly thought of. the last time Jenkins pushed an player in charge without any managerial experience was a fellow he got back from Chester 6 months after he left us, his name was Martinez.

LOL, I remember when we signed Bony, they were telling us we wasted money and Cornelius was the future.... NOT ONLY was it 8.5b million for a 20 year old unproven in the Premier league, it was 45K A WEEK hahahaha
-
got to wonder what his next tactic to force him out will be, I'd suspect a sale or two in jan without the managers consent may be coming Do they have a director of football, or a Wise man to excuse the pun? Sam Hamman

Mackay was a Norwich playing hero, so maybe he'll head there if Houghton gets the inevitable.

Cardiff City, the gift that's always giving.. ;D ;D ;D ;D ;D ;D ;D ;D

Didn't realise it was an early kick-off, just seen the result. well done

As far as league games goes this season, we didn't win in the first 3 home games (Man U, Liverpool and Arsenal) and we haven't lost in the last 3 (Sunderland, West Ham and Stoke), so 1 win, 3 draws and 2 defeats. One of those draws was robbery by a ref who really didn't want us to win (Stoke). We haven't really hit a good run at all this season, can't seem to get going. so wouldn't be surprised by a draw and hate to say it but its a game I could see us lose. Don't know why Tremmel played ahead of Vorm last game, but expect Vorm back this game. Another uncertain position would be full back, Tiendalli and Davies last time out, can't see Davies being dropped, he's become important for us, so between Tiendalli and Taylor for right back. A lot of us are hoping that Laudrup goes for the 3 wingers again, don't know why he doesn't use it more often, but when Hernandez, Routledge and Dyson have been started together we seem to be far more dangerous. We switch players a lot this season, maybe a reason we can't go on a run, that's because of the Europa League see

Who is this ref Robert Madley who reffed our game against Stoke this week, the consensus of our fans is simply he's totally inept or corrupt, no other explanation, he spent the final minutes trying his best to get Stoke a goal. As someone on one of our messageboards wrote: " Last seven minutes. 1. Their keeper and Routs have a ding dong, keeper lays hands on him, Stoke get a free kick. 2. Big old ball scramble in front of dug outs, drop ball ? Stoke get a free kick. 3. Bony wins a clean header on half way line, Stoke get a free kick. 4. Ball is charged down by swans defender Rangel, out on the right, Stoke get a free kick. 5. They get a corner off Canias from that free kick. Its retaken after Bony cleared fairly. Stoke get an advantage. 6. Stoke fail to take the advantage from retaken corner and get a penalty. Which nobody saw." The most bizarre reffing ever.

It could be worse though, you could have an owner who changes your colours to red, wears short sleeved team shirts over his shirt and tie and tucks it into his trousers that reaches his armpits, then sacks a successful recruitemt chief and appoints his sons mate who'd been painting the stands and don't have a visa in his place. I'm hoping we can add to their misery today
