If we played a 4-5-1 with an attack of Tiote Barton Nolan Larsson Jonas Carroll I reckon it'd be pretty effective. Larrson and Barton both with the ability to float balls in, and Barton can still drift and support Simpson with Tiote shoring up the middle with Nolan. Means you can pack the midfield without having to use Smith or Routledge, essentially.

Bear in mind Bolton were happy to get rid of Nolan IIRC. And he's now the best captain we've had in while.
-
If Barton took an ankle knock for a month we'd be screwed. At £1.5 this'd be a good signing. No pressure on him to come in straight away.

I'd punch everyone around me. Then Ranger.

Worst miss of all time. Tbf, I was laughing for about ten minutes since it didn't matter.

EH? You've given Lovenkrands the same marks as Shane Ferguson? Were you watching any of the game at all? Scored 1, set up 2... wow. The hatred for Lovenkrands is insane Tbf, I didn't see Lovenkrands' goal clearly, so I didn't feel giving him a mark was fair since it could have bundled off his knee. I actually like Lovenkrands generally, was a big fan last season. 6.5 is probably a little harsh in retrospect. Bump him up to a 7.

Xisco not even on the bench. Wtf is going on?

Hell of a lot more PL goals than Routledge. If we flogged Routledge for £8m and brought him in for less, it'd be great business.

Wayne Routledge signs 3 year deal with Swansea

Provided we replaced him with someone with pace, I'd also snap their hand off for it. Routledge's pace has come in very handy for us though, running at tired legs like in the Wigan game, and it'd be a shame if we lost the ability to do that. -
why? Didn't state. I presume it's to stop him getting injured like he did at Milan.

Joey at CB. Pardew's mental. I don't like his style of talking about individuals. Opposite of Hughton's dignity.

West Ham agree fee in region of £15m with Liverpool for Andy Carroll
ChrisMcQuillan replied to Pilko's topic in Football
Ok so you say Newcastle is at 60%. What is Newcastle United FC at 100% according to you? I'd say it's probably on the same par as Spurs at 100%. Flirting with 4th in the current climate. -
BBC claiming he may be restricted to training only.

Our finances aren't in good order though. Just cause we owe to Ashley rather than to other companies doesn't mean we're not in debt.

http://www.skysports.com/story/0,19528,11661_6635801,00.html How can they keep stirring like that? "The controversial business plans of Mike Ashley are also a factor, with conjecture suggesting that the Newcastle owner is running the club as a business in his long-term plans to sell-up and that he would be prepared to listen to offers for any player." We've just been asked how much we wanted, and we said fuck off. How can this suggest we'll listen to any offer? -

Sadly, there's been about twenty final straws over the last few years. People will calm down and go back. Not saying they should, but they will. -

Someone said a while ago that everything Ashley's done was with long-term money-saving in mind. Selling Carroll would mean relegation. That, last season, meant a £40m loss with Ashley pumping money in every week to keep us afloat. That means for Carroll's sale to make business sense, the offer would have to be over £50m. The only people capable of offering that would be Man City, and you could demand £70m in that case. They're not going to pay that for Carroll, not yet anyway. No need to panic. Ashley won't sell because the long-term loss of revenue outweighs the short-term benefit. -
Not the first time that's been said. I mentioned it in the "Not Worthy of a Thread" thread. My mate said he swore he saw Ashley and Llambias at the Sydney test too.

Anyone watching on Sky Plus rewind until the ball Tremlett cut Smith in two with, abou 10 mins ago, and looks like them in the background behind aleem dar just after the muted appeal. Supposedly.
