If Jonas' chance was on his stronger right foot then maybe he might've done better, but to call it a 'shocking miss' is pretty ridiculous, imo. Now Lovenkrands' miss, now theres a shocking miss. Woeful.
-
How are they going to move upwards? Are the league giving out free points or something? How? We had only 1 chance in the whole match where we actually threatend or should have scored- Lovenkrands shocking miss. Otherwise it was all Everton in the second half (understandably). OK, we had a little spell in the first half where we kept the ball and pressed them a bit, but not exactly serious pressure. I thought Shola's disallowed goal was a bit harsh but you just cant challenge the keeper nowadays. Lovenkrands was very poor today, imo.

won't be missed tbh. Well its either him or Geremi, Im afriad. I know who I'd choose, anyway. Disgusting tackle, btw. Yes, he apologized but that doesnt excuse him for what he did. What exactly was he trying to do? He didn't need to commit himself like that!

Doesnt get near enough praise from the likes of Sky etc. If he was playing in a 'top 4' side then he'd be the new Desailly etc. But yes, he was immense today. Jo hardly get a look in, while Anichebe and then Saha werent given a sniff. Quality player young Seb. What I like about him is that he's a very simple footballer, in that he doesnt try anything flash or fancy, he just defends and lets the more attacking minded players do the stuff. Doesnt take any unneeded chances as well (Mr. Bramble!!).

Sounds like just the sort of player we need in our midfield, to be fair. I'd lay pretty good money on it happening one day, too. We already have Barton....

I was wondering how they managed to lose 0-9 today. Horrible thought to think this could be their last ever day as Weymouth FC. Chances are they'll do a 'Wimbledon' and reform the club. Still though, such a shame to hear that.

FFS, Sky and Setanta all have 3 channels that broadcast sports, why not broadcast different games at 3pm all on different stations. I hate Setanta but at least they show games at 3pm. No they don't. No 3pm games on a saturday have ever been shown live. Not true. Setanta Ireland gets a 3pm Saturday game every week. Obviously this is only for ROI customers. Probably the reason I still pay for it... D'you live in Ireland, CocoBananas? Aye, living in Donegal, from Derry... Cool. Good to see a Mag in Ireland. More paddys on here than I thought.....Im from Galway I got lots of family in cobh, co.cork. Love the place and they are upholding a long black and white tradition. Yeah I moved over to Dublin from Kent about 9 years ago.

I love this man. I just love listening to him talk about football.....every word he speaks makes such sense. His old school attitude is great. Who else has read his autobiography Farewell but not goodbye? Fantastic read.

I know what you guys mean, and I agree. Ever since Owen signed for us there's been speculation about him just using us to enhance his chances for an England call up (which in reality he has been). And although he's denied it every time he's been asked about it, I've never been fully convinced that he's 100% focused on Newcastle United and commited to the black & white cause. I think the main reason he's here is his ridiculously unjustified pay-packet (imo if he hadnt done his knee in and missed pretty much the whole of the 06/07 season he'd be justifying it). I think if Capello was in charge of England at Germany 06 Owen woudnt have been picked.

I remember last season during Febuary (I think) Sky decided to have an extra early match on a SUNDAY morning- 11:30am KO. It involved Portsmouth travelling to Sunderland. I mean, where is the sense in that, ffs?! What is wrong with 3pm?

I think Micheal Owen has got way too much stick on here, tbh. Yes, he has an infuriating time staying fit and is quite a greedy player when it comes to money. But pretty much every goal he's scored for us has been very valuable. He was fantastic last season when he was able to stay fit and has done Ok this season considering his injuries. Yes, he does go missing in games sometimes, but you always know that if you have Micheal Owen in your team there's a good chance you'll be able to knick a goal. Personally I'd love him to stay with us but with his injuries and huge salary, maybe it is time for him to move on at the end of the season.

Bassong should be left centre back. Why? I think he's had two good solid games in a row now, it'd be uneeded to drop him when he's finally finding his feet. Bassong is much better in CB, imo. Personally I dont think we should change the back 4 at all. Taylor has been solid for the last two games as has Bassong and Jose, whereas Colo has been a bit dodgey but dropping him would only make things worse, imo. He's still one of the best players we have. With Evertons depleted squad I will fairly disappointed if we dont take all 3 points on Sunday, especially with having Martins and Jonas back. My apologies, Gred.

Great news for someone like me whos never able to get to games, but I do feel a lot for the diehards that organize trains and buses etc weeks in advance only to lose money because of these thoughtless bastards messing around with the schedules. And they have to move these games to worst times dont they? FFS, Sky and Setanta all have 3 channels that broadcast sports, why not broadcast different games at 3pm all on different stations. I hate Setanta but at least they show games at 3pm. Edit- Good point, PM. Pompey fans will have to take the whole day off work and most likely stay overnight in Newcastle and miss work the next morning just to see a match that they could lose. Disgraceful.....

I see. Maybe I was getting mixed up with something else... I saw a video of Werder Bremen fans singing YNWA against Chelsea on youtube. F*cking horrible!
-
Lovely gesture, imo. Bobby deserves every penny. Such a legend.
-
Heroes the lot of 'em! Howay the Bulgarian lads!
-
In relation to YNWA, from what I've heard, Liverpool started singing it before Celtic. The story I've heard is that after the Hillsborough disaster Celtic held a charity game (or something like that) and before the game started, Liverpool fans were all singing "You'll never walk alone..", and then Celtic fans joined in and its stuck with them since....

Shearer, for me. Owen is still a top striker when hes fit and ready to go....but that is a major factor why Big Al would get the nod from me. Owen's finishing is lethal- quite as good as Shearer's imo- and he offers good movement and is one of the best strikers I've ever seen at dropping into space in and round the penalty box and has such a fantastic sense of positioning. He always knows where to be at the right time......an invaluable assest for a striker. Plus Owen is canny in the air... But Shearer offered us more than great physical attributes. His way of leading the team was brilliant, he was like the manager on the pitch. Al's hold up play was second to none and offered us a target. If Shearer got a chance then he'd more than likely burry it.... As for Shearer's decline- Well, imo it kicked in when Souness took over. He got progressively worse over the time Souness was here. The way Shearer was, he would work his socks off for the team every match- he loves Newcastle United, nothing else is acceptable- but with him being on the wrong side of 30, he just couldnt play every game at such a high and demanding level. In terms of injuries he didn't suffer a whole lot, but he was just jaded in nearly all of our matches....you could see he was knackered. If Souness used Shearer in the right way, then he would've been much better for us that season. That was the worst season I'd ever seen Alan play- yet he was one of the best players in our team which said it all. And as many have stated, the loss of Bellamy was a huge blow to his game as he then had to do much more of the chasing down and just general donkey work. That took its toll on him, imo. That 04/05 season was just horrible. Everything about it was just so shit. Apart from the FA Cup wins over Chelsea and Spurs, I hated everything about it. Another thing that didn't help was the way we went out to Sporting Lisbon. Even Souness said that he'd never seen a man like Shearer so low after a match, he said he was just demoralised. And then going out of the FA Cup Semi's to Man Utd (of all teams) a few days later really didnt help. I think that really effected Shearer. As for his form in his last season (05/06), I thought it was more or less the same to what it was the previous season, but when Roeder took over he regained and captured some of his old tricks and started scoring more goals. I went to see Newcastle Vs Wigan that season at SJP (3-1 to the Toon! ) and Shearer was class. A cut above the rest, like.

But seriously, that is exceptional ball control for a kid his age. He also has a very advanced football brain by the looks of it for someone his age. OK, he's a bag of tricks on that video, and it doesnt mean hes the new Zidane, but come on....the kid has got serious talent for someone so young. Impressive.

"NUSC believes that this is a critical point in our season and that unity is strength when it comes to shaping the future direction of the football club both on and off the field. " clear as, er, yeah...garbage basically isn't it? i also like the term "speaking opportunity" which suggests they're just gonna let any old radgie get up there and start spouting s**** about MA asset stripping the club etc... Agreed. I can imagine it getting very tedious very quickly. You'd think for an organization like them their first point in any advertisement would be to get their aims and objectives across.

I thought that was a bit of a let down as well. I havnt been on the SJP tour, although I really want to as it looks amazing.
