I was excited to see the fruits of the recruitment team’s last 12 months. They’d obviously profiled some of the most promising young players in Europe and South America. I was genuinely excited to see who would be coming in. Then I realised we were selling our best player and working our way down a two year old list of transfer targets. Underwhelming.

I think Liverpool shot their bolt with Ekitike. They don’t have the money to pay £150m + so will be hanging around and getting their clients like Romano/Jacobs/Ornstein to keep pumping out the ‘Isak only wants Liverpool’ tweets until the price comes down. I hope PIF have some resolve.

Romano who is being paid by Liverpool and/or Isak’s agent 5 times a day to say the same thing?

We won’t really know how the next batch of PL strikers (Ekitike, Gykores, potentially Sesko) acclimatise to the league until it kicks off. Nothing to say Sesko could be more suited than the other two. It’s a huge risk for big money but by all accounts we did identify him as a future star and our scouting has been excellent, better than our ability to close deals.

I think Isak is a player you break your wage structure for. Especially if Jackson, Delap and JP don’t cut the mustard.

I know we’d prefer him to move abroad but if he stays and has a great season then Chelsea will definitely be back and I think they’d gazump Liverpool.

Even better when Isak is on the bench and Wissa scores a hat Rick. Maybe bring Isak on in injury time for a laugh.

At this point I don’t think anyone could say who will be more effective in the Pl; Ekitike, Gykores or Sesko (if he comes). There’s an element of risk in all of those signings.

There’s literally no excuse for not being on that plane with his team mates. He wants a new contract or he wants to leave? Well fair enough, discuss it with the club in private but continue to do the job you’re paid for.

We should just trigger his clause now. I’m sure Forest would much rather sell to us than Spurs. Get Wissa done, pay up for Trafford. Then go big on a CB and ST. If there’s owt left over have a punt at a couple of highly rated young un’s like Dibling.

Liverpool’s whole approach to undermining our club and destabilising Isak only works if the player starts creating so I’m 100% blaming Isak for this - he can get fucked, he’ll go on to become a hated figure in NUFC folklore like Mike Ashley and Michael Owen. He’ll get his 300k a week though.
