Still nothing from the executives. Asleep at the wheel.

Use their vast wealth and ‘political’ power - make it clear they won’t deal/trade with Liverpool or the ESL clubs. Complain to the PL about Liverpool tapping the player up. Offer Isak a bumper deal? Start becoming a nuisance in regards PSR constraints. Make it clear to the player he’s under contact and won’t be leaving this summer. Anything they can do is better than nothing.

Reaching a consensus that Wissa may actually be a good signing just before it’s announced he’s signing for Spurs.

I don’t like the thought of spending £30m + on a player who will be 30 next year. However, he’s 8th in non-pen goals in Europe’s Top 5 leagues last season. Ultimately the proof is in the pudding - if the neckosaurus fails at Liverpool and Wissa’s goals fire us back into the CL and maybe another cup win then it will be worth it.
-
Depends on the fee, would you pay 45-50m for a player who will be 30 next season?
-
I would put this in the ‘panic buy’ category, especially if we are paying daft money (£40m+). Surely we haven’t scouted strikers for 12 months to end up with Wissa despite his impressive goal return last season.

Hugo Ekitike (not playing for Liverpool for a while)
Novocastrian replied to Miggys First Goal's topic in Football
Would have loved him here but that was primarily as it would have signalled our ambition to bring in the best young players in Europe. On the pitch there’s absolutely no guarantee this kid is an £80m PL forward. There’s just as much chance that he flops like a lot of Liverpool strikers of the past. -
Howe’s done the heavy lifting though, with his staff. He’s got us CL and won a trophy using ‘Ashley money’ i.e the money spent so far could have been spent by Ashley if he’d given a fuck. PIF brought a welcome change of approach and released funds but that’s it at this stage.

Starting to feel a bit like the Carroll sale this. Heard the initial approach on the radio in the morning going to work, laughed out loud. Followed the saga all day until he was sold. I wasn’t laughing then. We may think this all a load of bollocks but somethings not right. On top of the underwhelming window we are having this is a worry. When are PIF going to get a grip of things. Howe is conjuring up miracles on the pitch, it’s time for them to match his performance.

If we lose Trafford it’s nothing less than incompetency at this stage.

Wonder where this is currently? Have we bid £30m or £35m? The ‘Newcastle tax’ isn’t the amount we need to pay but maybe the bit extra we are going to have to come up with to secure our targets quickly.
-
Flabbergasted by our evident lack of imagination in this transfer window. Our only targets seem to be players we’ve scouted for 2/3/4 years (Trafford, Elanga, JP, Ekitike) all of whom are now valued at least double or three times what they were when we were originally linked. No one in the scouting department watch any matches last year?

Would be an honour to negotiate personal terms and a fee with Leipzig before handing the transfer over to Bayern for completion.
