What about for Everton Lien? Do you still need a right back? Surprisingly Neville has been canny recently, less irritating than usual. Ideally yes we do, but we have bigger concerns, i.e. a quality attacking mid. is Cahill for sale like ? Not that I know of. Just, imo, he's average at best. Very limited player. And in a 4 man midfield, he looks utterly lost. you think so ? Scores a few goals from midfield, and supports his strikers better than any of the ones that we have. What about that new bloke you have, the bloke who scored against us, is he Italian ? I don't know what your main weaknesses at Everton are by the way, I only watch you against us or on telly now and again. Cahill's strengths are his timing, aerial ability and 'enthusiasm'. Technically poor, passing, shooting, control, none are particularly good. Crossing is ok I suppose. Don't get me wrong I'm not saying we should get rid, but unless he's playing just off the main striker (or indeed as striker it seems!), he doesn't offer a lot. Fellaini is the one you're talking about. He's Belgian, 20, and although the price tag was too much, he's doing well IMO. I think DM bought him as a defensive midfielder, but he's doing well getting forward, most games I've seen him have been him offering more on the offensive front. I think we need to decide what position he's best at and keep him there. If we therefore keep him in the defensive mid position, we still need an attacking mid, a la Moutinho who we were apparently on the verge of signing over the summer, and perhaps would have if it wasn't for inept transfer dealings. Arteta is good when he's on form, he needs creative support. Pienaar has the odd effective game. Osman is good in parts but nothing special, fairly lightweight, like Pienaar. We also need some pace, Victor Obinna was one we were close to getting on loan, a pacy Nigerian who can play up front or on the wing. His work permit was refused for some reason though, probably because we don't play in red. Otherwise, nothing urgently required. If we're being picky, could do with 4 or 5 players to really get us to the next level, which we so frustratingly failed to do over the summer due to a lack of money, plain and simple.

Classic circular reasoning, that. If JFK wins us the FA cup this year I'll be the first to offer my mouth for the congratulatory blow job. So every manager we've had since 1955 wasn't qualified for the job? I can see what's going to happen next.

He's English and young, in today's market that's what, a £50m price tag?

I reckon we deserved the win in a fairly even game. Home advantage to us meant we won probably. In a Neutral location I reckon it would have been a draw and at WHL they would have maybe nicked it in that game. Aye, a one-goal win was fairly in-keeping with the balance of the game.

Bloody hell, a bit of luck went my way. Had Deportivo, Genoa, Fiorentina and Sivasspor at 24/1. Only had a quid on it, but I couldn't care, a win!

What's been unlucky about recent home games like? Err, Man City, last minute goal conceded, Wigan, Late goal conceded, Stoke, last minute goal conceded. How's that unlucky? Nothing to do with bad defending, ey? No. So, how's it unlucky? Last chance, ball can go anywhere, it ends up in the net. 3 f***ing times. Unlucky. I find it unbelievable you think it has nothing to do with the defence. But I'll leave it at that as to not ruin the thread.

Imo a draw wouldn't have been unfair. Not sure where this whole "we dominated" malarky is coming from. Overall, an even game, and in the end it was a bit of magic from Viduka that won it.

Agree with the Prophet's comments, I think the nature of the league has to be taken into account. The fact it's so close really does leave 2/3 of the Premiership on a knife-edge, and could not safely predict the sort of position they'll find themselves in, in 2 or 3 games time.

They weren't looking too clever when he first came in. Aye, why was that again? Im sure something canny big had just happened. Not the point. These good players were looking totally lost and lacked confidence, he's whipped them into shape and we look like a premiership football team again. Credit him for that. Too right, I agree. Just like Roeder did. Some caretakers have done well, most don't, but its no reason to make a judgement either way. Every case is different. Agree with the last bit in particular. Kinnear could lead Newcastle to a top 10 position and pushing towards Europe. It's entirely unpredictable. But he's garunteed to fail long term. Its a fact. What a fantastic mentality. Yep, its great isnt it?, anyone who thinks giving Kinnear the job full time will result in anything other than spending another 5 years in the football wilderness is having a laugh. Im all for giving people a chance, just not desperate chancers who by some strange alignment of the planets couldnt believe his luck when he ended up in the job. Its been said, hes Glenn Roeder mark 2 and no Everton fan will persuade me otherwise. And this Everton fan isn't trying to persuade you into thinking he should be given the job long-term. Nor would I be stupid enough to speculate this. I don't agree with the logic of him being like Roeder though, as every example has different circumstances.

Pace (particularly in today's game), intelligence (e.g. decision making) and technique, to combine pace and intelligence into success.

Have you ever been to a football match? Oh come on GG, they should at least be having a picnic and a nice cup of tea.

So has anyone else ran out of paper keeping tally of the lucky breaks Liverpool have got this season?
-
Not a goalie? He'd be almost as good as Carragher.

oh christ. With atm being the operative word in that statement, is it really that unrealistic a statement? Yes. I don't think it is. I'm not saying that he is a better player that some of the top defenders in the league, but he is playing bloody well at the moment. If we're going to say who's in the best form relative to how well they can potentially play, then imo I guess he's somewhere up there. Unfortunately that's unquantifiable. This doesn't however mean he's in the top X defenders. He's a solid tidy defender who's playing well, when the team plays well.

Viduka wins the game with a bit of class. Simple as that.
