  1. So I guess I'm the only one not to have done any training whatsoever for this? Fandabbydosy.
  2. In 3 isolated matches aye, otherwise its been a shambles at the back all the same. Whether its Bassong and Colo or Taylor and Colo. Just like at our goals against column. Having said that they are but two players and not the defence, they just form a part of it. Midfield and up front is critical to the defence and those two areas of our side just so happen to be lacking balance and quality in general. I think the point Baggio is making is the defence is better when Taylor is not playing. He's also clutching at Mike Ashley and Dennis the DOF type straws Relevance? and your relevance is what ? Computer says no. no relevance ? About as much as (weakly) attempting to start an argument with Baggio about Ashley/Wise/DOF in a thread about the footballing ability of Coloccini.

  5. Yes, he is. Can't understand the enthusiasm for him from many. Coz he's young-ish.

its a must win alright, there are a lot more of these 6 pointers to come. We also have to play ManU, Arsenal and Chelsea at home we've dropped too many points at home against other teams at the bottom. Aye, our remaining home fixtures are very, very tough. The way it's going, being at home doesn't seem to make much of a difference. I'd fancy you just as much to win a game away to, for example, West Brom, as I would if you were at home. That's just how its working for Everton, we've definitely got a better chance at home. I guess but I think there's a general sway towards a more open match nowadays, with home advantage becoming less important. That's for another thread anyway.

So you don't think stupidly risking a red card to foul Reina was playing up to the crowd? It was pure idiocy from where I was sitting. I love this about you. You read what I say and just put whatever you fancy so i'll try it. So you think Asprilla signing didn't disrupt the squad? But seriously, if he did that fine but when it comes to encouraging the crowd fist pumping itsp robably because he's jus loving playing for the club , I'm not talking about his performances in any context, I'm simply discussing his supposed playing to the crowd. yep I agree with this, and I'd take it any day rather than someone who doesn't particularly want to play etc etc, and we've had more than enough of those, and still have some. I wish Ameobi would start getting stuck in ........ I'm not saying the lad should start I prefer Bassong, but people slating him for showing passion is lunacy, how can you be-moan players like Duff for hsowing no passion and in the same instance claim Taylor, a local lad of sorts for showing fake passion. Yep, I completely agree. Some people actually preferred Cacapa mackems.gif To be fair, I remember quite a few people saying, "all Taylor needs is a good partner" in comparison with Boumsong, Bramble, O'Brien, Elliott, Moore, etc. who he's played alongside over the past few seasons, well now there's two better centre-backs than him to play alongside and he's still no better. We are still essentially a team playing back to front though ie under pressure due to lack of quality up front and in midfield. Thats why we are struggling, and unfortunately these players cost more money than defenders. Then how come Bassong coped alright alongside this lack of quality up front and in midfield? eer........welll..........there must be some reason why we are down near the bottom of the league and in a crisis, or a sort of crisis, unless you think because we have Bassong it cures all the huge weaknesses in the rest of the team......... Do you think when Bassong comes back we are going to race up the league or something How about talking about Taylor? Why talk about football when you can drag tired politics into this?
  9. I never knew "Would you cash in on Given" meant "Let's talk about the same thing for the 572nd time". Must be because I'm young. Thus I understand NOTHING ABOUT THE WORLD EVER! Merry 2009.
  10. All I'm going to say is the Liverpool fan's claim of beating a side 5-1 away from home being "nothing to get excited about", is fantastically delusional arrogance at its very finest.
  11. If Given could improve his command of the area, he'd be pretty much the all-round keeper, as his distribution seems to be improving a bit. Agree with what Mag-ic says though, we're often going on what we see on TV. Casillas for example makes some stunning saves but perhaps makes it hard for himself through his positioning sometimes.
  12. Nah mate priorities, all of us here would much rather you were with your family in this sort of situation. All the very best.
  13. Anyone above Birmingham is either a Geordie, Yorkie, or Scottish, remember. YOU MAY NOT BE ANYTHING ELSE!
  14. wasn't exactly a one on one as gerrard played between their midfield and attack....hate to say it but a masterclass in MOVEMENT from gerrard today Wasn't actually a one on one as Butt didn't get near him all afternoon. neither'd guthrie,coloccini,taylor,n'zogbia,geremi,gutierrez..........why make it butt only ? Because I f***ing hate him And he was exactly the same at Wigan on Friday. I'm a tad more objective. i thought guthrie was woeful on and off the ball aswell, had lots of chances to break forward but held back forcing either butt forward or isolating the forwards. duff was more dynamic than n'zogbia, enrique has no confidence, owen was anonymous, given could have held two of them saves.....i could go on I'd agree with all of that, but Butt is a week in week out problem now. He had to go some to be worse than he was on Friday at Wigan, but he managed to achieve it. He is only ever a good defensive midfielder when we're playing well, when we need him to be holding the midfield together when under pressure he's one of the first to disappear out of the game. The only time you then notice him is when he's repeatedly giving the ball back to the opposition playing simple 5 yard passes. I'm sure I heard a fair few people praising his performances against Pompey and Spurs? He plays well when the team plays well. Like pretty much 80% of footballers.
  15. Lmao. No seriously, that's some warped thinking predictions there. I'm fairly confident about the ones that matter, top 5 and bottom 3. The rest as you'll see theres pretty much nothing in it, anyone could finish anywhere out of those teams. I think the problem with Everton was I predicted they'd lose to the big sides (justifiable due to your terrible record in these games) and just kept guessing they'd draw the rest (which was down to laziness.) edit: Switching a couple for a more realistic prediction: http://img.photobucket.com/albums/v191/Qu_klaani/untitled2.jpg Notably theres not much difference in points needed to change your position. I'm perhaps nitpicking but I find it impossible to believe there'll be a 14 point gap between 5th and 6th, regardless of who they are. (But maybe that's me thinking we won't be 4 points behind Villa at the end of the season nevermind 14).
  16. In terms of the fanbase, how is it measured? Is it as simple as saying "we have more fans"? Not imo, as the geography of the area has to be accounted for. If Newcastle don't have a big fanbase due to having a big city to themselves, then there's something majorly wrong.
  17. In fairness we did get pretty much the hardest draw possible this year, as they are proving by beating Sevilla, Stuttgart etc. I'd say last 16 isn't too bad. Edit: Although we should have got further.

  19. I'm more and more not thinking along the lines of the bold bit. The table is now closing up at the very bottom, and Newcastle continue to perplex. The general dross includes Newcastle. I didnt say we werent included, I meant if we are to have a saving grace it will be in other teams in the premiership playing worse than us. At the minute there are alot more struggling than in previous years. As much as you can see the bottom of the table closing up a couple inconsistent results (that have been happening alot) can see people dragged back into it or pulling away. Apologies, didn't read it right. It's fair to say over half the teams in the league are involved in it - right now you have to look at those that have some atoms of team spirit, and those that don't. And unfortunately Newcastle fit into the latter category. Yet confusingly, they're able to produce the odd good performance out of nothing, a la Pompey. It truly is a mystery.

  21. That's how Kinnear will see it I imagine, hence the interest in Riise. Few people don't seem to be keen on Riise. I'd certainly have him.
  22. I lovw how careful people are with their wording
  23. But it's sure as hell working at the moment,
