  1. I remember you saying something about us finishing above Villa, are there any odds for that? Wonder what the value would have been before the Boro game, coz I think it's a good shout, what with Villa being occupied with Europe as well, without a particularly big squad.
  2. Size of stadium, fanbase, history, turnover etc. NUFC despite what some of our own fans would rubbish is a big club, one of the biggest in the country although not an elite club which I regard Man Utd, Liverpool and Arsenal as. I'd say Everton are a big club too along with Villa, Spurs and Chelsea. Clubs of stature. I don't disagree that Newcastle is still a big club. You only have to see the lengths the national media go to, to report every little event at the club in bizarrely extensive detail. In terms of fanbase, I don't think it's as easy as saying "you have more fans". The geography of the area has to be taken into account, i.e. the fact you're the only club in a huge city. I'm also a bit sceptical about the 'history' factor, because most clubs will say they have 'history', and ultimately what will determine the strength of this factor in making an overall decision will be the nature of that history, i.e. impact, success. I do agree with the turnover bit though. No, it doesn't accurately measure the financial state of the club but it still is a good indicator of the level of 'stature' it has in the football industry, albeit not the only one.
  3. I have to laugh at the bitterness of everyone wanting him to fail.
  4. Don't be sorry, it's the whole point of a forum imo. How would you define 'stature'? Does 'stature' = 'big club'?
  5. We play them at home in a few weeks. Unfortunately, either side of that, we have trips to Anfield and OT.
  6. Good one. Had me going there for a second.
  7. Come on lads don't be harsh on Sunderland. They've improved by 4 whole goals on last season against us
  8. Who? Dan Gosling, youngster for us. Just find it generally hilarious we're doing better without any strikers. Cahill has been ridiculously good up front on his own, considering he's not a striker.
  9. What was the score at half time? (I had Fulham HT, Chelsea FT. £3 on 9/1) yep fulham leading 1-0 at ht. money on your way mate, i'd expect.
  10. You've actually managed to display the biggest lack of logic in argument in many a year. Congrats. explain, were talking about a team that have lost twice to spurs and drawn against west ham, hull, stoke, all at home. Im not ready to give up on newcastle. If it was our first 11 I'd like our chances of maybe nicking a draw if we played well, but as it is I'm not sure we have 11 fully fit players. Being an Everton fan I'm the first to question how the hell Liverpool are top, as they've played s**t in many games this year but got away with it. I do however have to laugh at your logic. Insua - never heard of him until 2 weeks ago. So therefore he MUST be rubbish. Benayoun - useless. Aye, and N'Zogbia is immense? Get some reality. Keane - not in front of Owen or Martins? Christ. Riera - has actually played quite well from what I've seen. You wouldn't have him in the Newcastle XI? Kuyt - although I don't rate him, why the passive "wouldn't get near our first 11" comment? Aye, because the squad is in tip top shape. Also, remember this is coming from a long-term Liverpool hater, how is Torres overrated?

  12. We've got the resilience of champions and the quality of midtable.
  13. Since when has actually seeing things played a part in peoples' conclusions on this forum?
  14. Did Alan Oliver ever conclude what he thought about a manager who's won 4 titles with 2 different clubs and 3 manager of the year awards?

Yep. And as I said in a previous post, it's seemingly accepted by most people nowadays. It's a part of the game. Pathetic.

    Owen and Viduka

I thought that the thread had died a death. Never. IT SHALL LIVE ON!!!!
  18. Has Edgar played many reserve games? Is he doing well?
  19. If that is right you've got my vote for president!!! Newcastle going to make a late christmas present for Chelsea with a win through three Andy Carroll goals I forgot to add that the media will penetrate Liverpool afterwards, praising it to be a "professional performance", "the stuff of champions", when in truth the 1st goal was most likely a deflection of some sort, and the game was overall not one-sided.
  20. Liverpool to rape the first 20 minutes, Newcastle to get back into it only for them to score. Scrappy middle third of the game, wonder goal from someone makes it 2-0. Newcastle hit the bar but no comeback arrives. Decent performance overall.

Not sure where to post this, but did anyone hear Salako earlier? Talking about the bias that exists, born out of the reputations of some players. Think it was a very interesting point, and agreed with much what he had to say. (Stemmed out of Dowd having the balls to send Terry off on Monday). And don't hold your breath regarding the FA and Rooney and Ronaldo.
  22. Good on them, hope they do very well, it's refreshing. They've done nothing to warrant the bumming they get though, they've played well on a small handful of occasions this season. Not that I'm bitter that we raped them and we lost. Nope.
