Woah, I thought it was only on Everton forums that childish insult-swapping took place.
-
Surely Fuller's goal was the winner hands-down? In relation to Liverpool, as an Evertonian my comments are probably uncredible, but they have an impressive talent of getting results they never deserve. However, today I have to say on the balance of the whole match, 2-1 was a fair scoreline. On an entirely different note, anyone think we'll win at Stoke tomorrow?
-
If today is anything to go by then we'll struggle to match what we did last season, we need important players back soon to lift us out of that performance, we were a shambles. Well yes, not for one minute saying "ah a little bit of X and Y and top 6 it is", but problems are rarely irreparable. One good result can change everything.
-
so if we walk round with a banner saying "newcastle are great", we'd win every week? I'm not sure if "illogical" really fits the bill for that statement.
-
The amount of posts on this thread/forum that aren't actually about the football is staggering. Keep it in perspective, I don't think some people realise how much of the season is actually left.

It's just some casual thoughts, don't get me wrong I'm effing delighted with the result and the fact he got 3 goals. Just saying, although I sure as hell hope he goes on from this and improves his all round game (which will come with experience), he may be expected to do too much too soon. Expectations need to be realistic.

Any player joining Liverpool should get a good burglar alarm

He's just pacing himself, he's going to explode into life by scoring a hatrick in front of the Kop later this month. Mark my words. Ok then, don't! But yeah, he's injured. Permanently, it seems. -
Agree with both the 2 above comments. Whilst I'm pleased for Walcott, the hatrick overshadowed a fairly average display from him, exaggerated by the fact he got the goals and has pace. Hey, I hope he goes onto perform at a constant level for many years to come, but I just can't see it, at least not on the international stage. And how Walcott is picked and Young isn't even in the squad is bamboozling.

Back the sword! Crack the horde! Hack the player! Oh, right.

I don't think many/anyone are going to be boycotting the game. Precisely. It was an emotionally driven campaign inspired by KK's departure, that has ultimately (and rightly) fallen flat on it's face, due to logical reasoning drowning it out.
-
The problem is that because of the constant England failures this looks brilliant, it's an excellent result but with the squad of players we have we should be performing on this scale almost every game, I won't hold my breath to what happens next. You've said it yourself. With the squad of players we have. Not a team, though. Should we be performing at this level? No, coz a set of good players most definitely doesn't make a team. And in terms of general performance, look at other big European teams. They often struggle in certain games during qualification. Yet the English media pick up on any weakness the England side may have, blow it out of all proportion and give the impression we're completely f****d. Like when we didn't qualify for the euros? Are you suggesting I'm defending the England team for not qualifying? It was a disgrace, anyone in their right mind would know that. What I'm saying is this country's media are far too ready to point the finger and try and criticise them, whether there's substance to it or not.

Let me give a brief outsider's perspective. Some of the reactions I've seen on here, and from other NUFC fans I know have been purely emotionally driven. King Kev's gone. The 'Messiah' who brought those days of fantasy football, gloriously entertaining games. Get a f***ing grip. The longer fans moan on about how he's been harshly treated (which, if you believe the stories, he certainly has been), the longer the media will pick up on this, and be provided with limitless ammunition. Let this not be a moan against KK - I personally like the man, and I think his personality is brilliant, and one I truly hope is back in the game in the near future. But boycotts? Right-oh. Give the media a field day. It will do completely nothing. Apart from maybe inspire Hull.

I seriously can't believe some people on here. Lose/draw, and we're all over the place. Win, and it's "a flattering result, it doesn't prove anything". No, it doesn't but for f***s sake enjoy it for what it is. We just beat one of the best teams in Europe (Yep, they are) 4-1 on their own patch, where they were previously undefeated. Have some pissing pride man. Whilst this hardly secures our qualification, its a bloomin huge step towards it. Croatia I bet will be thinking "Christ, we underestimated this English team". And true, Heskey should be given a large slice of the credit. If not remarkable, the linkup play that went through him was completely pivotal to a large number of attacks. Well done England. I just hope we keep up the good work.
-
is that the same reasoning behind betting against your team in games? if the end of the world doesn't happen, you've lost a tenner but your life is spared, if it does, at least you've earnt a bit of cash to soften the blow. I guess so. Just on a somewhat more apocalyptic scale!
-
Might place a bet on the end of the world, and an England win. Picture it. A wholly impossible event; and the end of the world.

Sky sink to new reporting lows. David Craig "thinks" Alan Oliver has "said"..... It really can't get much worse can it?
-
There needs to be a campaign to frequently use Craig-vocab, i.e. the infamous "sensing". Much better than sources. What more evidence do you need than "word on the street" and "my understanding is"....
-
Thus, what's the point in saying whether someone is a gamble or not? Everyone's a gamble in their own right. Just some are more risky than others.
-
No no no, remember, Overlord Wise is going to bring in Poyet at left back. Get it right. I'm unsure why I used that, I just felt compelled tbh. Been a long a day.
-
Surely the biggest message could be to do exactly the opposite. You've stated the obvious that this might have a smaller attendance than most due to the fact its League Cup 3rd round. How's about sending a message to the rest of the country and prove what fanatical support NUFC possesses, and turn up in big numbers to this Spurs game? (When you've said yourself it might not be expected, problems or not).

Told you I'm still an amateur on here! *Sits in corner* I'll try again.... From an outsider looking in, Faith Terim, a volatile manager who would want control over things is exactly the sort of manager Newcastle would not want. Surely stability is the key? (Though whether this is the system's fault is another debate). Has Terim had much success when there were big expectations, or with a big club in a big league? Apologies if I'm wrong, just from an outsider's perspective, it'd be a baffling appointment. Stability with who? An amateur like Poyet or Zola? I'd rather take a risk on Terim or Deschamps. Well I guess it'll be a risk whoever is appointed. I think my point that I fairly poorly worded in the previous comment was that the system could be the key to whether stability (throughout the club) can be achieved. The manager needs to be prepared to have less than 100% control over transfers. I guess I'm just criticising the system itself; it's obstructive and is bound to cause friction.

One of the few guys in football nowadays you'd be immensely proud to know.

Sam Allardyce yearning to see some quality long-ball action this evening. A strange sentence.
