    La Liga 14/15

Copa del Rey. Always assumed that was during the week, guess they wanted to give the 'top' teams a rare midweek off.

    La Liga 14/15

Am I missing an obvious reason for there being no games this weekend?
  3. What's the deal with Hernandez - is he still the lethal poacher we all saw in his first year?
  4. Would be surprised if Januzaj doesn't start. Looked your most dangerous player when he came on.
  5. Ferguson got out at the right time. Whatever personal reasons he may have had for leaving, he knew exactly what he was doing footballing-wise. He got mediocre players playing well above themselves, and had a world-class striker in top form who rescued them on any number of occasions. Neither is happening this season so far.
  6. Pretty sure this forum cracks out the ol' anguish face to every single referee's name.
  7. Man Utd clearly should have scored given the fact they had a couple of easy chances to score, but on the other hand we had good chances besides the goal. It was a generally decent game, should have been more goals.
  8. Was gonna say similar. They went after some good players but failed to get them and you can't really blame Moyes for that in this day and age. I'm not convinced it's so much the players, however. Moyes seems to be showing clear signs he's in the mentality of managing us. Occasionally let rip but more often than not try to get the odd goal. Initial reaction when going in front is more often than not one of caution and shutting up shop, something I think has contributed to the concession of several decisive late goals in their matches. Issue is, he's managing a team who should be looking to very realistically win most games and thus challenge for the title, not someone looking to win against a few poorer teams and scrape a few points against the better sides. He needs to change his attitude to winning games before he can be a success there. The difference between not getting beat and winning is absofuckinglutely massive, something which was an annoyingly common theme in many of our bigger games under him.
  9. No it isn't, they are improving and yesterday was daylight robbery. They will finish top 4 its pretty obvious.... for one the contenders are not good enough and will choke as f*cking always. Anyway didn't you say Liverpool would challenge for the title? Couple of points - a) it was anything but daylight robbery given the chances we had and b) it was anything but daylight robbery given it was the evening.
  10. Was this is a fair scoreline? Heard/read a couple of updates and seemed Swansea were pretty toothless in large parts. More a case of you not turning up as opposed to Swansea playing brilliantly?
  11. Still laughing my head off at the Fellaini deal. Everyone is looking at January to see what they do, but if that's how Moyes is going to spend his money, they're screwed. They'll begrudgingly creep into the top 4 on the backs of Van Persie and Rooney and Moyes' blushes will be spared. The fact other teams are hardly setting the league alight will mean they'll keep roughly in touch. I always thought when we'd finally win at Old Trafford - and given I was 2 when we last won there, this feels like the first time I've seen it - it'd be cause for mass celebration and hysteria. After the initial massive buzz after the game, it's now feeling more like, well, it's a very good 3 points, as opposed to total jubilation. Guess that's indicative of Man Utd's decreased standing this year. Said it before the match and I'll say it again - their current squad is a few excellent players mixed in with a lot of relative mediocrity. More teams should be winning at Old Trafford this year if they give it a go. They're no longer a team to be feared.

  14. About £230 in total. I ought to have had more on, was very sure about it. We'll see.
  15. Should be aiming for the top 6. Although Newcastle never tend to be a moment away from meltdown. The annoying thing is that no-one knows what will constitute Europe. 5th at least but whether it will go any further than that will depend on what happens in the cup competitions.

    Sunderland

The crux of the matter is they're shit, however there are 4 or 5 other teams who are playing equally as shit, and another 3 or 4 who you may not immediately expect to be in big danger but could easily get sucked in.
  17. QPR/Reading double tonight did the job. Annoyed at myself for last night - fancied Napoli but instead went for a 2-1 win, reasons for which I'm still not aware of.
  18. 11/10. 11/10 should have been for 20 league goals, not 15. Massive mistake from the bookies. Only a really bad injury is stopping him getting 15.
  19. For whatever reason I've got it in my head that Napoli are going to win 2-1 tonight. Scientific.
  20. GW14: Crystal Palace 1-1 West Ham Arsenal 2-1 Hull Liverpool 3-0 Norwich Man Utd 2-1 Everton Southampton 1-0 Aston Villa Stoke 2-1 Cardiff Sunderland 0-2 Chelsea Swansea 1-2 Newcastle Fulham 1-2 Tottenham West Brom 1-1 Man City
  21. Decent enough. You guys keep going from strength to strength under Martinez no? Glad we actually smashed someone at last, it's been coming. That was with none of Baines, Barkley and Mirallas starting, too. Acid test at Old Trafford. We should be looking to certainly get a point at least, there is absolutely no way anyone can convince me their team is light years ahead of ours. They have a couple of world class players and a hell of a lot of mediocrity. The fixture represents as much a mental challenge as anything else. A trip to OT under Moyes meant hoping for a point at best. I'd rather we go for it, risk losing (which we still regularly did) but give ourselves a chance of winning. We can't consider this game a free hit or any of that total bollocks, not if we've any aspirations of getting somewhere this season. Get at those fuckers and if we are to get beat, make them work like fuck for it. Either way, our record in these sort of games simply has to improve. It's genuinely hard for it to get worse. Wins at Man Utd, Chelsea and Arsenal since (I think) 1995 altogether comes to a total of zero. 12 years since a win at Anfield. If I didn't laugh I'd cry.
  22. What a lovely weekend of football.
  23. Thought Gouffran was your best player. Like Steven Naismith, only with actual footballing ability.
  24. Hilarious result today, but I'm not putting much weight on it. Off day, things went against them. Doesn't mean I don't find it delightful, mind.
