I thought Ben Arfa was crap and ineffective against stoke at home. Then his leg was broken. In a very short period of time he's shown some moments of excellence, which suggest he may well have the quality to be a hit in this league. It is however not set in stone due to a) how he recovers from a very major injury and b) he's only played, what, 4 games in this league? My instinct is he'll be a success and you've got a superb deal here, but it's not surprising some people, particularly from the outside, would be hesitant in hailing this as an astounding signing.

They've improved post-derby IMO. Not particularly great to watch but it's an improvement as some of the stuff earlier in the season; in fact, the stuff in the 5-1, was utterly turgid. Hoof it to Bent! But now Welbeck and Gyan are there to take the weight off Bent, they've improved a bit - something I believe a few people on here actually predicted when Bent was injured for a little while. And I certainly didn't.

Other than Spanish football I very rarely watch foreign football and certainly French football would be way down on my list of priorities. Listen I'm not saying Arfa is not a good player, merely saying on what I have seen this season Welbeck has had far more of an impact than Arfa(and yes I do realise it may have been different if he had been fit but that's just guesswork) Can't really be argued with. I'm intrigued to see how HBA performs week in week out in this league, because the glimpses of what I've seen have been of a player who has ample quality to make a significant impact.
  4. I know it's Gabriel. I'll still have him.

Winning goal with his left crutch.

You can't put a price on being young and English. Who cares if you don't have a position let alone standout quality?
  8. Ok so you say Newcastle is at 60%. What is Newcastle United FC at 100% according to you? I'd say it's probably on the same par as Spurs at 100%. Flirting with 4th in the current climate. Yep. Where we were 2001-3. Challenging top 4 with good Cup runs. Don't really think this % talk makes much sense. I can see what you're trying to say but progress is perpetual, is it not? 100% for EFC in my mind is being where Barcelona are at the moment. I know there is close to zero chance of that happening in the next 10-20 years but that's my view of 100%. Realistically, pushing for the top 4 is where I can see our 'maximum' position being in the foreseeable future.
  9. That would work! im playin that on fifa. isn´t Nolan described as a "hard working midfielder with long distance shooter ability" he is actually quite good in fifa 11 ps. it annoys me that caroll doesn´t possess the aerial threat....WTF I think Nolan's special 'skill' is 'Engine'.

    I certainly don't think he'd run.

Well they're not exactly going to wish him well are they? Nothing wrong with wanting your arch rival's new signing to fail. From a quick glimpse at that thread, it's quite clear most of them realise he's a good player, but are rightly questioning how he'll recover from his serious injury.
  12. I was waiting for you to say Simon Davies was your captain.
  13. 25 yards out against players who clearly don't know he's left-footed. He works a treat there.

    Alan Pardew

From the outside looking in, I'd say he's done a steady if not spectacular job so far. It'll take a lot more to convince me he's cut out for being a relative success in this league however it doesn't appear he's made many mistakes, so credit where credit's due. You've had some tough games under his stewardship but, perhaps a lack of a go at Spurs aside, you've done pretty well. You were the better team against City, as well. He's talked a good game as well from what I've read which, although not the most important part of football, is encouraging to see.

    Hatem Ben Arfa

Why isn't it 5 and a half years? I thought that was your fetish?
  16. Isn't Europe 5th this year? Is it going to be extended to 6th? Genuine question. Depends who wins the cup competitions. It'll be brought down to 6th if a top 5 side (i.e. already qualified for Europe) wins the CC, and 7th if a top 5 side wins the FA Cup.
  17. The bit in bold isn't the most idiotic part of the post IMO.
  18. I have to applaud you guys and your enthusiasm for stalking one of your players.
  19. Nani and Dann both scoring means it's 23 points from 4 players so far, decent enough.
