80% possession. Pardtastic. Just waiting for the inevitable home goal now.

Yup. I think I've said it somewhere else - he's got a fair bit of talent but probably not enough brains to make the most of it. I think there are places where he'd be very successful, but he doesn't do what Poch needs in all-round play, so he's surplus to requirements. If you can get 10M+ for a local guy, who cost you nothing, who's surplus to requirements then yay. I'd be happy to keep him as an impact sub, but there are other kids coming through who can do that. As for his real value - well let's say that I'd rather have him than Thauvin. I reckon we can get 14M for a young England international, given the ludicrous money out there. Rumour has it that we've already got that from somewhere.

They're usually pretty good on Spurs stuff.

Some interesting viewpoints in here when viewed from the outside . A number of people - not the same ones, I'm sure - were scoffing at Shelvey just a couple of weeks back. I think he'd make enough of a difference. He's got the potential to take a game by the scruff of the neck, and some real nous. You don't need amazing to stay up, you just need to improve on the glaring weaknesses in the middle (defence and midfield)... Starting Saivet ahead of all their midfielders when he's played less than 40 minutes for you . They're in the top half despite having a dodgy keeper and defence, and a big lump up front. Their midfield can't be that bad. I get that every football forum is like this, but it's dangerously RAWKish.

Those lucky, lucky things.

Worst all-out attack ever . Also, why the fuck did I swap out Butland for Schmeichel?
-
All-out attack, for the hell of it.

I got poked in the eye by my daughter three years ago. Still have problems, even after having surgery last year.

If I had a pound for every result like that in the last few years. Off the blocks quick, loads of possession, 20 shots, keeper plays well, no goals. Oppo defends and hits us on the break/set piece. Rinse and repeat. Sooner or later we're going to completely obliterate someone. Hopefully it's this week.

Someone needs to stop the messing around and get a message out to Rudi. Yeah. Better think of your future.

Watford (A) FA Cup - Sat 9th Jan at 3pm (not on TV) - Pre-match thread
leffe186 replied to ChrisJbarnes's topic in Football
We played three at the back to counter Watford's tactics and it worked pretty well. I suspect it's just for this game, although no Ighalo might make it redundant. -
If the other club have accepted the previous offer, and the player is the issue, then the bigger offer wouldn't matter, surely?
-
It has to move a certain amount IIRC.

What result do you want from the Swansea/Sunderland game?
-
Genuine question - isn't that what Sissoko is supposed to bring? I haven't watched enough of you this year to say.
-
I'm so sick of games like this.

Who do you have playing instead of Yaya and Arnautovic? Ozil, Barkley, Mahrez. 433. I set the team, looked at the bench and thought "FFS". Bench boost this week .
-
The trouble with this year is that many of the purples have either done fuck all or been very inconsistent. None of the top 10 forwards cost over 10M. That means you have to think about your team each week, which I'm not comfortable with .
-
We're supposedly legit interested in Dembele . In further Dembele news, the other one might be out for a few weeks. That's very bad news for us.
-
I feel like I've quietly built a serious team. My bench for Saturday is Yaya Toure, Aldeweireld, Arnautovic and Hennessey. Does anyone feel that the best tactic is to have a couple of shitty bench players to free up money elsewhere? I'm not sure who to drop right now.
-
From your last couple of weeks that might have been for the best .

You reckon? I think he'd be a disaster. Too one paced for our team. Suites Swansea's pass and move. He'd be forced to go sideways and backwards with this squad. I think he'd make enough of a difference. He's got the potential to take a game by the scruff of the neck, and some real nous. You don't need amazing to stay up, you just need to improve on the glaring weaknesses in the middle (defence and midfield). I think the three players suggested would be enough to keep you up, as long as Douglas hits the ground running. Townsend is brainless, but capable of being very dangerous against lesser sides. I rather rate Shelvey. I still think that it's Villa and Sunderland down, then a big scrap to avoid that third relegation place, and you just need to get on a little roll (another couple of wins in a row, say). I think you're capable of doing that with three new first-teamers.

Pretty damn good for us too. Just a pity that City can go out and drop another 50M or more to bolster their squad in January.

First dodgy week for a while, but by God, it was worth it to see the Arse getting gubbed.
