Welldone to him for actually making some kind of sound towards us finally. If the guy actually spoke like this more & kept people in touch with what hes thinking there would be far far less hate towards him.
-
Big advantage other sides in the championship have as said before is that they will largely be keeping the same sides that have already gelled/done reasonably well. If we start putting together random players, they wont have that. It'll take time. Obviously depends how many players we manage to keep.
-
Hope he does stay, would make a class captain. Clearly all looked up to him before.
-
I barely ever see butt doing anything anymore other than 5 yard passes and strolling along a bit. I dont see him passing it well, winning hard tackles, winning sliding tackles, pressurizing players...whats the point.
-
I wonder if they'll even make reference to him. Can we blame kinnear for much at this point if we're to accept that Shearer couldnt get them to produce because he inherited crap ? Only difference for kinnear was having Given. What i find worrying is that Dowie is probably the main lad in charge of tactics & theres little reason to believe the guy has the ability to turn us into a team that plays nice football. Under keegan there was a definate difference when he took over in how we played, under shearer not so much. Though to be fair, keegan had better players at his disposal.
-
if he has any aspirations to be a good player he'll take a cut and leave to a club he'll get noticed in anyway
-
For all you can blame for this disasterously shit season, Duff is one of the least. glad he'll stay.
-
Motivation only works if you can improve a players performance though. Butt/nolan were just out of it in the middle. Without any possession the rest of the side is going to lose belief regardless of what the manager says
-
Yeah and who has to play in it every other week? us! What's your point? Our stadium will be almost twice as big as most of our players next season will have experienced, that's going to be more of a hindrance than help. depends how supportive the crowd is & how well they play initially. It should be a gigantic bonus for us, but we do like destroying the confidence of our own
-
Oh f*** off mate - have you seen the results over the last few months? We should have been dead and buried ages ago. The table doesn't lie. We're utter dogshit and a bad ref's call here or there doesn't excuse it. crap teams losing to keep us in it isnt mindblowing. Obviously we've been crap, but we havent exactly been lucky either.
-
Reckon keegan would come back to mentor al ? He has a good record in the championship like lol
-
You cant say everything went for us when we have a dissallowed goal against us previous match & a deflected goal relegates us. It was about 50/50 in terms of luck.
-
Its all "mights" at his point thats the problem. Theres always some amazing change the manager could have made that COULD have changed the game. Its endless. People hate accepting that no matter what we'd have done, the side just werent good enough. None of them. & yes we cannot say shearers been brilliant but neither can you judge his managerial ability very well at this point atall. Its not like we dont want to appoint a class manager anyway, so i dont understand that point. We'd all have loved that. Whats so strange about us liking the idea of keegan/shearer also? I dont see how thats "trying to create a fairytale". We wanted them in charge for pretty sound logical reasons.

When I think about it, I really don't care if there are gloryseekers who support us. I don't care when and why people start supporting us. They're supporters, so we've all got that in common. Who cares if they started supporting us when we were good? However, on another level, I'll be glad that those people who support us and watch football because all their mates do, will stop. I'm sure this forum will lose a few members and it might be for the better. St James' will lose a few people but I bet those who go are those who care. Who knows, with the prices bound to drop, we might get some real fans in. We might get some noise. It won't be fashionable to watch and support us anymore. Anyone who does it from today will do it because they care. yes, it'll be great when our commercial income plummets. it is not just about fans deserting, you have to think about fans as a fluid entity, some leaving for various reasons (losing interest, dying, moving away, not having access to the club on the telly etc) and others being added for various reasons. next season because we're not in the premiership we will add close to zero new fans and lose a huge amount. It's really quite simple, in the eyes of foreigners, Newcastle was a big club until 30 minutes ago. Now it's on par with the Sunderlands, West Broms, and Wolves. Of course there are people like those who post on these forums, who will follow the club no matter what despite their geographical displacement. But for a lot of people relegation to the Championship means they'll simply lose interest in the club, and while you may deride them as fair-weather supporters, they make a valuable contribution to the club's commercial income, as well as raising the club's global profile. Unless the club acts quickly to keep overseas supporters on board, I expect that there will be a huge dropoff. I'm one of the administrators on the Korean Newcastle Supporters Club and I wouldn't be surprised if we lose half our membership within the next year. If we stay in the Championship for more than a year, our site might just cease to exist. tbh i can understand it, they dont have it in their blood and all their mates prolly support Man Utd so what is the point supporting a club they can reasonably never watch? maybe if we come back up they'd return but not until then. im not deriding them for it, going to be tough for them, maybe they'll swear to stick around, but over the months theyll find themselves watching arsenal, acquiring a soft spot for them, and interest in us slowly slips away. f*** them you can say that, but summed up it basically means our status as a side goes down. Less chance of decent players wanting to join us in the future. We become less likely to be a good football team anytime in the future. It affects all of us. Decent players like Michael Owen you mean? We're going to be the biggest club in the Championship, that isn't cocky or anything, that's a very obvious fact. This means that we'll be able to attact the best quality Championship players to the club. Should be back up in no time, with players that actually want to play for the club. The only way we're going to become the next Leeds is if we refuse to spend any money at all. which is very possible with ashley in charge. No way of knowing we'll defo be straight back up, a lot havent. Our side will be broken up, a lot of new players will have to gel together. Its not simple. Regardless even if we did get back up straight away, we wouldnt be able to get the players we could have got if we'd stayed up today. Its going to take time, not being negative thats just reality.

keegan will be questioning his decision himself right now i think.

Do you live to make pointless sarcastic comments ? What was pointless about it? Do you think these well paid players went down with a fight or with a whimper? i said myself they deserved it in the initial post that rehighlighted this thread. So i dont see the point of your comment .........

Hope he stays on. In the end he couldnt do much, it just went against us. Butt & nolan in the middle just didnt have the legs atall, no possession & they all lost belief. Feel sorry for martins & taylor. Thats about it.

Do you live to make pointless sarcastic comments ?

Aren't the strikers being rated a tad harshly? They had nothing but blind punts pointed at them all game long, and Viduka did well to make a fist out of any of them. In the end, it was our central midfield that sent us down. harper was the least bad tbh. cant blame him.. Martins tried but couldnt do it by himself the rest just werent in it. Colo, nolan, butt were disgraceful.

hell be desperate to go now surely he cannot take being the owner of a club, hes had nothing but crap experiences. He must feel hes out of his depth at this point. I reckon he'll run a mile away & icant wait. Hope he does it soon though.
-
turned out to be a pretty big decision then....... not to say they dont deserve what they just got, that last 45 was purely pathetic. But an deflected own goal & dissallowed goal to send us down.....a bit laughable. Seems it was fate the way the seasons gone.

ashley wont buy shit now, even championship standard shearer may hop off because of it this may be our club well and truly fucked.
