Didn't Mike Ashley pay off the money we owed to banks? We owe the same amount of money, just to different people and at zero interest.
-
C. Ronaldo has 64 caps already, England haven't played any more games than any other international team, I don't see what the problem is? The fact that Capello dropped Beckham kinda makes your first argument redundant as well.

This season Martins goals have cost 594k each with Owen's goals costing 546k each. If the wages are 80k and 105k respectively. Using rough figures Owen's league goals have cost about 1.3m each compared to Martins' at about 850k each.
-
Ah didn't know, surely can't cost that much?

"At the head of the queue will be Michael Owen, the £102,000-a-week, bit-part player who has cost £45m in wages, transfer fees and national ins-urance. Starting just 34 per cent of games, his 30 goals have cost £1.5m each. " Umm....surely Owen pays national insurance himself. Owen will have only cost about £35m at the end of this season, the FA/FIFA paid one season of his wages, which I assume if the 'insurance' thing the writer is on about. Even though he gets it the wrong way round.

Good post.

so relegation due to lack of investment and zero ambition is the answer ? Shame on those who scorn the people who gave us the best decade and a half of the last 50 years by a million miles. As HTL said yesterday, how many of you actually thought we were winding you up, when only a handful of people including me and him knew what we were talking about. You should be telling the likes of Liverpool and Arsenal how they are doing it all wrong, and their priority should be to make a profit and sell their highest earning players. Arsenal and Liverpool kept reaching the CL, we didn't, the wages and transfer fees weren't sustainable without CL football. I don't understand how you can't get this?

**** me A player who's not even good enough for the first team gets loaned out and everyone starts crying?

Bollocks. 9 goals under Keegan last season, in something like 17 games. He's a very clever player, but useless if he doesn't get to take part in the game. people are fond of quoting these statistics yet dont take into account the fact that his record for us is less than 1 in 2 if you take away penalties and goals are all he gives the team anyway. He isn' the same the league as an Inzaghi as a poacher and at somewhere like Man City he's a long way behind Bellamy as a footballer. He'll do ok for a mid-table club next season perhaps but he wont excel at the top level again. He's scored 26 in 64 starts in the league for us. And he's scored a grand total of three penalties. So 23 goals in 64 starts (with your strange logic, I'm not sure why you'd ignore penalties anyway. ) Not really a bad scoring record for someone playing for a team that's hardly finished in the top half.

If they have any dirt on Ashley, they won't be saving up that's for sure. As for suing The Sun, how the **** is that a problem? If they've lied they should be punished.

True, while his pace may have gone, his instinct in the box hasn't, shame we've not got anyone (fit) in the midfield who can provide half decent passes/crosses. Or a decent manager, like Keegan, to get the best out of him. :-[

we dont need to be in the premiership much longer either Why not?
-
Jonas surely? Taylor has done well recently, but not consistently.
-
What does this even prove? Xavi and Iniesta are crap? Dunno why you'd say Gerrard even if you are a Liverpool fan, Messi is without doubt the best player in the world and anyone who says otherwise is either blind or smoking crack tbh.
-
That's a video of him, looks quite good. Physically imposing but also quite skillful.
-
Glad Deco is out as whilst he hasn't been great this season he'd have a field day as he'd never get closed down by our geriatric midfield.
-
Agreed.

To be fair, if i owned a club, id do the same So when can we expect the headlines of our stadium being renamed the "Mike Ashley is a Geordie hero and not part of the Cockney Mafia Stadium"? Not seen the Chronicle tonight? http://www.chroniclelive.co.uk/nufc/newcastle-united-news/2009/03/25/ashley-decides-to-change-stadium-name-72703-23228504/

You and others were told. Repeatedly. And you thought I (and others) were talking rubbish. Ashley has ambition I reckon, he's just going the ultra-cheap route (i.e. waiting for youngsters to come through), which is probably wise given then economic climate and our balance books. Although he still needs to invest more in the first team, even Arsenal, whose 'model' we are supposedly copying spent quite a bit at first to build the first team. Otherwise if the first team is **** the youngsters will just move on.

To be fair, if i owned a club, id do the same And put myself up front most games. I know Kinnear is a bit of a yes man but Ashley up front?
-
25 goals in 27 league matches this season says it all. How many have been put on a plate for him. He is world class striker but Torres is better, that's all.
-
Ireland was the league's in form player for the first few months but he's done nowt since then IMO and so shouldn't be included.
-
Torres definitlely ahead of Eto'o. Half the time I think Eto'o looks ****, its just because he's got Messi, Henry, Xavi and Iniesta setting it up on a plate for him. Couldn't be more wrong. As I said I was half joking, he's obviously a world class striker, but anyone watching Barca on a regular basis can see he is the end of quite of lot of attacks, much more than Messi or Henry at least.
-
Where the **** is Wallsall? We need to take a legion of fans to pressure the manager to bring him on. Like Gutierrez against Blackburn.
-
Torres definitlely ahead of Eto'o. Half the time I think Eto'o looks ****, its just because he's got Messi, Henry, Xavi and Iniesta setting it up on a plate for him. Top scorer in the history of African Nations and thats with Geremi supplying though... True, I was joking a bit though. Eto'o is great but Torres is still much more impressive IMO. Oh, and Messi should be on the right Other than that it's my top team as well though.
