There's clearly been agreement behind the scenes that Gordon will never play right wing for us again, and I'm still salty about it. I'm not seeing anything useful from Gordon on the left that he couldn't do on the right, and it's been that way for some time. Barnes is most potent from the left side while Gordon skies and scuffs shots from there almost every single time. The home game against Burnley where he hit 2 shots sweetly appears to be an anomaly. No way Barnes doesn't do better with that chance Gordon skied last night.

Burnley haven't been beaten by more than 2 goals since September (only twice all season). They're bottom 3 but they're a competitive side who are running most teams close-ish. I wasn't comfortable for about 10 minutes second half either but without watching every other PL game I'm assuming not many other sides are dominating from start to finish atm. Forum darling Emery has been squeaking games for months, good enough for them but not for us. Our confidence is clearly quite brittle and we're still working a few things out. We looked like a side who knew how many points they'd thrown away of late. Hopefully we can build on this now, being in the chasing pack for Europe despite flaky performances and results is a decent spot to be in.

It sounds like you expect us to dominate and win every single game. Ain't gonna happen with our budget. Even the teams challenging for titles are labouring to wins against poor sides fairly regularly, and losing games now and then too. That Leicester game was a case of us forcing 3 fast goals then calling it a day. It was a dominant win. Our form post-cup final is one of Howe's best achievements imo, as we could so very easily have rested on our laurels. Instead last season was the best in our recent history. This season is another story, it's clearly gonna be up and down but has been nowhere near as bad as some on here are carrying on. But I'm not having people lumping last season in with this, or saying the signs were there. It's bollocks.

Yeah I'm just not having this about last season. Everton was a bottle-job we somehow survived, Villa away was pretty bad but other than that results/performances after the cup final ranged from OK to very good. Won 6/10 with 1 draw and tore Man Utd, Palace and Leicester to shreds.

Using Man Utd as an example of better player recruitment when we've just seen player after player choose them over us is some incredibly flawed criticism like. People seem to forget the deck is stacked in the favour of a few clubs, you'd think the summer just gone would have been a reminder.
