  1. Think the BT Sport Goals Show goes under the radar a bit but it is pure bliss watching all of the action from around the grounds as it happens.
  2. We should do a co-ordinated watch of a classic NUFC game again, that was fun during Covid
  3. They better extend the wildcard window if games are cancelled this weekend like.
  4. Tuchel deserved to be sacked like, they have been rubbish for ages and he has wasted every single attacking talent they have bought for him to use. He has been riding the glory of the CL win since the day it happened. Been unimpressive since, given the talent there and the money spent. Plus he's so boring and defensive. Not impressed. Also think Potter would be daft to go there, it would be an 18 month stint max before they sack him and want a new shiny toy in the dugout.
  5. I don't watch much foreign football these days, does VAR generally get used without a hitch in other countries? It definitely seems more seamless (with accurate outcomes) at major international tournaments.
  6. This is a good one, I was at the first game after that stuff came out and the mood in the ground was nasty. Think it was a 2-1 defeat at home to Palace. Chants of "Sack The Board" and a very edgy atmosphere, including me dad having a bust-up with the bloke in front of us
  7. Can anyone think of Newcastle or football-related incidents from years gone by that were a big deal at the time but now seem to have been largely forgotten? The one I thought of today - Shearer wrongly being given the first red card of his career on the opening day of the 99/00 season at SJP vs Villa. Was later rescinded. https://www.fourfourtwo.com/news/on-this-day-in-1999-alan-shearer-sent-off-on-100th-appearance-for-newcastle-1596713063000
  8. Murphy was bad again when he came on but FWIW he looks better on the right than he does on the left. When everyone is fit he shouldn't feature though.
  9. If it's not incompetence or corruption then there is a 3rd option, which is the effect of the intimidation that the so-called big clubs exert over officials on and off the pitch. This has been the case for a number of decades now, it was definitely going on when I was a kid in the 90s (it was the cause of Keegan's 'Love It' rant, obviously) and imo the effect of it can't be under-estimated. The way that coaches and players from these clubs get at these officials is disgusting, just look at Klopp the other night in the 4th official's ear the whole game with a face like a psychopath every time an innocuous incident occurred on the pitch. And it's human nature from the refs (well it's gutless as well but it's somewhat understandable) that 1) they let the unrelenting noise influence them, 2) they veer towards decisions that will give them an easier life, and 3) they make decisions while factoring in the fuss they may cause afterwards, and we all know this fuss is amplified by the media when a decision goes against one of their favoured clubs.
  10. They analysed that for about 3 minutes, was about 30 seconds for Isak's the other night. Cool.
  11. It's all relative I suppose - if you say how is it versus Ashley windows and it's a 10 all day. Not just the money spent but the profile of the signings. But I think a lot of us (myself included) are suddenly looking upwards and seeing the vulnerabilities of the sides above us. There is a big opportunity there, with this manager, which colours judgements.
  12. Looking forward to the inevitable few wins we'll pick up against that reprehensible set of clubs this season. I gave the window an 8. I'm delighted with each of the 4 signings as they all hugely improve the first team. But right wing in particular I'm not comfortable with - Almiron and Fraser would be fine as squad options but don't think either is good enough to be first choice. There was a long time between the Botman and Isak signings, I really hope this stands us in good stead in future windows and we can act quickly to bring a RW and CM in. Hopefully we've planted the seed with a few clubs / players now (a la Botman) so the next window isn't such a grind in that respect. All good though, saw someone say in another thread there are only 13 games between now and January window and this is definitely a good enough squad to push on with until then. Just need some luck with injuries so we can see our best side!
  13. Diang rumoured to have failed his medical
  14. Would be valid if it ever fucking worked like that. No consistency.
  15. He can't drop Trippier, there is nobody else.
  16. Hopefully Lascelles and Burn are in the team to kick the absolute fuck out of their forwards.
  17. They were on the brink of folding when the Russian bailed them out as well, they are the spawniest cunts in football and their fans don't even seem to realise it. That semi versus us at Wembley just sums their existence up in 90 minutes, they smugly and undeservedly luck out at every fucking opportunity while you have clubs like us who have been absolutely fucking cursed forever. A lot of rage spilled out there over a rumour about a transfer of a player I'd not heard of 3 days ago, apologies. I fucking hate them though.
