  1. There is an massive surplus of forwards who are very technical and tidy in their play but never really score many goals. I know the game has changed a lot but I miss the days when more than a handful of PL strikers scored a serious amount of goals each season.
  2. It's mental. I remember watching him closely on his England debut and he looked like he had everything. Every touch was silky and intelligent. And he had end product for days. I don't see any way back for him now. Rashford seems to be on the same curve, he has been out of form for ages. Wonder if it's just a lack of motivation. Not everyone wants to strive to be the best after reaching a certain level, and if you're not going forwards you end up going backwards.
  3. Souness wrote this the other day in a weird article slagging off Mings: The difficulty for a manager is that he can’t say publicly all that he knows. I had very good captains. Ian Rush at Liverpool, Alan Shearer at Newcastle, Garry Flitcroft at Blackburn – proper men. But when Craig Bellamy was being difficult at Newcastle – we ended up squaring up in a meeting room – he was a hugely popular figure in that part of the world. He's proper obsessed with men like
  4. There is not a hope in hell Gordon would start more than 30 games at Chelsea if he signed for them. Not getting the hype with Gordon and not getting why Chelsea keep buying AMs and not doing anything with them like they're money laundering the fuckers.
  5. For the love of Christ, please bring an attacker in soon.
  6. Saw this on Facebook just now but can't seem to verify the quotes elsewhere, so take with a pinch of salt. Assume it is someone paraphrasing the press conference. Anyway I love owt like this me, it gets me at first glance. “Really trying to engage the current players with what’s gone on before & celebrate our past. To try & draw a connection. We showed them footage…to help create our own history. This club can be successful in this league - we finished 2nd not so long ago. I’m not an expert so please don’t ask me questions(!) But in my position I need to have a certain knowledge. It’s also important the players know the club they’re playing for.” The media in general seem to want to forget we were one of the top clubs in the country for a number of years, so it's nice to see Howe tapping into that. Especially since there are teams in the past that played with style and purpose, can definitely see it being inspiring to the current players.
  7. I think Chelsea are on the decline under Tuchel. There were many signs of it last season, Tuchel is far too negative and can't get decent numbers out of any of his attackers. Don't think their transfer business this summer will do much to address their issues. Bookmark this for when they seal the quadruple next season.
  8. Because half of every football thread atm is him repeating the same points in a self important way over and over again. I don't see anyone else doing that and it's doing my head in. And point taken on ignore, but just because there is an ignore function doesn't mean people can expect to just post constant repetitive shite for others to read without any criticism for it.
  9. Will you please stop saying this over and over and over again, it is fucking psychotic. We get it man, we know where you stand on Cornet vs Almiron / Fraser. Christ.
  10. The spiky responses this guy has been getting have been annoying. He seems knowledgeable and reasonable, would rather read his posts than ones from our own fans bragging about our new found wealth etc.
  11. Tbh I agree with all of that. Apart from the Wilson bit but that sounds like a stream of consciousness thing rather than him genuinely wishing our only decent striker gets injured I'd love Maddison at NUFC but I'd be shocked if it happens. Yes the owners seem competent now blah blah blah, but they seem to have balked at fees abroad then bid well below asking price in the famously expensive PL market for a well established player who is of a famously expensive nationality. The only way it makes sense is if it gets done, or if we're not throwing too much at it in terms of resources that could be focusing on other players. Otherwise it was an odd one when it surfaced and still seems an odd one now.
  12. I can't remember but I do fall asleep at least once a day so it was probably me, aye.
  13. Definitely elevated by Deputy Dawg UK being a seemingly jovial (borderline ridiculous) username.
  14. Why are so many people so keen on Werner given how badly he's failed in England so far? He's been here 2 seasons now. Not a loaded question, genuinely interested in the answer.
  15. Tbh I find the Maddison link a bit concerning, unless we've heard some credible patter he's attainable for £50m or so. Otherwise it is another bid for a well established / hugely hyped player at well below their asking price. We need to be aiming for players like Maddison / Bowen before they have excelled in the PL for a number of seasons. No idea who those players are, but that's who the scouts should be identifying. The only clubs that generally make these type of signings - well established PL players who are already among the best players at their clubs, generally for inflated fees - are Man Utd, Man City etc. So unless we're somehow going to get him for below asking price or are willing to pay the going rate, it sounds like a waste of time when we should be focusing elsewhere. That all said, I do love Maddison as a player and always have done. He'd be a fantastic signing and one of those where you don't worry too much where he fits in.
  16. The bit at the end where he rates his managerial jobs is quite funny. Just relentless (presumably unprompted) moaning Otherwise the article is pathetic, from both parties, as you'd expect.
  17. We won't sign Barnes but for those that haven't heard or noticed him much he's been heavily linked with Liverpool for a couple of years. Klopp loves him apparently, and has said so publicly. Always assumed he'd end up there.
  18. I'm hoping we're looking at players on their way up and it is going under the media radar. The likes of Bowen and Maddison came from the Championship for <£25m, we'll not get regular PL starters in that price bracket.
