  1. Barnetta's agent ruled out any move here after Barnetta picked up an injury during pre-season.
  2. Found this on naver.com today. My Korean is really shoddy at the moment, so perhaps oldtype can explain why Arsene Wenger in briefs is significant. http://imgnews.naver.com/image/360/2011/08/23/67_copy.jpg
  3. Too early to call at the moment. We have games against Fulham, QPR, Villa, Blackburn & Wolves which are must-win games if we are serious about placing in the top 10. Last season we performed well against the top sides and other very-high pressure situations, but games which were for taking resulted in unwarranted complacency. I'm not reading too much into the past performances until we face the mid-table/struggling sides. Only then can we see if we have improved since last season.

    Ryan Taylor

Is it really necessary for Saylor to have his arm out like that throughout the entire 90 minutes.
  5. Looks to be a passionate player. Likes to be involved and that showed with Cabaye showing up all over the pitch. From that performance, he will be well worth the fee we paid.

    Dan Gosling

Should have gone for the shot rather than waiting for the bounce, but otherwise I like how he pushes up. Wouldn't be a disaster if Barton left and Gosling took his place. Like a new signing.
  7. Absolutely agree with you. To suggest that any of our players can written off after a game against Arsenal is ludicrous. For the first half, our possession statistic was disappointing (but not all surprising), so without the ability to build-up some rhythm, our strikers could only feed off bare morsels of scraps. When we begin facing mid-table sides, only then can we really get a fair picture of how our new boys will cope with the Premier League.
  8. Quite impressed with how he played today, considering it was against Arsenal. Against some of the mid-table sides, Obertan is going to be a beast. Good stuff
  9. I saw one bloke wearing Newcastle top while running the Sydney Morning Herald Half Marathon this year. He was going in the opposite direction so I didn't get the chance to have a chat.
  10. Another Sydneysider over here.
  11. I have to admit he looks quite similar to a balding Routledge in this photo. http://www.nufc.co.uk/javaImages/5d/a2/0,,10278~9871965,00.jpg
  12. Lovenkrands is a left footed striker, Obertan is a right winger as far as I can see. So we're in agreement that Obertan is more suited to the RW role? If we're going to play 4-3-3, the arrivals of Obertan and Marveaux push Loven further down the pecking order. I like that. I like it a lot. I don't recall Loven ever playing on the right wing. The two look like completely different players so I don't really understand the comparison. Loven played on the RW quite a few times last season. He may have not started (memory defeats me), but whenever he was subbed in, he was rubbish as expected.
  13. Maybe. He's our captain now since Park Jisung retired and the second-biggest name in Korean football. If any player could generate those mythical "Asian shirt sales," it would probably be him. NUFC are already the fourth-most supported Premiership club in this country though Yeah the much fabled shirt sales We are really fourth? Is there a reason for this? http://www.kickette.com/images/uploads/alansmithold.jpg

    Mevlüt Erdinç

There have been multiple quotes attributed to Erdinç saying that he would rather fight for a place of PSG than move in the French media.
  16. Australian U-17 Dylan Tombides from West Ham's Academy diagnosed with testicular cancer; to go through chemotherapy for treatment. Absolutely awful for a young player like himself who has been recently tipped as one of Australia's most promising youngsters to go through something like this. Hoping for a speedy recovery and a look-in for Socceroos squad in the future.
  17. Last season, Shola just had 'Ameobi', but Sammy had 'S. Ameobi' Are you sure? I could have sworn I saw Sh. Ameobi and Sa. Ameobi.
