I've hated Given since he jumped ship instead of at least staying until the end of our relegation season, however today I feel for him.

If you were the Villa or Swansea manager today and you knew that the game was going to go ahead would you have told your players about Gary dying? I don't think I could, most of them will be in the dressing in tiers.

That was my reaction too. While older past Newcastle players have passed away, this is the first of 'my generation', if you like - someone I watched for years. Only 4 years older than me, too. I guess he is my first generation of players as well. Bobby was my first boss when I started to become a massive football fan but I knew that was coming even though it's still sad, Gary though is like Shearer, to think of him being dead is just not even something that comes across my mind.
