I wouldn't say so just yet. Wigan, West Ham, Blackburn, and even Stoke haven't done anything that impresses me yet in the transfer window. All of them if they don't get their act together could be in for a very tough season. Hopefully us making a decent start gives us a cutting edge above them all. I also think that you could add Bolton to that list, again they haven't done anything special and as the season goes on I think it will start to tell.

It's amazing really, for the last few years we have had virtually no one for central midfield, now we have, Ben Arfa, Gosling, Guthrie, Nolan, Barton, Smith, and maybe even Perch all fighting for 2/3 positions when they are all fit. Not only that but so far this season Nolan, Smith, and Barton have all looked decent.

You don’t need to be in debt to do that and in operating terms the club will probably be breaking even this season. Another debate about Ashley is a waste of time. I was only pointing out we owe him a lot of money and Lambias isn’t the only possible cloud on the horizon. My point was we wern't buying players for their name but buying players in positions where we need them and so far ones that look of adecent quality.

I guess it's stopped us from buying players for their names instead of their quality. Financially the club is getting better and within 5 years or so should be atleast breaking even. Team wise we are only 3 games into the season and can't really say anything on that front. Relegation may of done us well, infact I'd go as far as recommending it to Sunderland, multiple times.
