The RFU want to rebuild it but can’t afford it. If they sold it to Chelsea (and rented it back to RFU as non-priority tenants) then Chelsea could just rebuild it to a capacity that suits them. As it happens, I think Chelsea could sell out an 82k capacity stadium easily. We are past the point where 50k-60k seater stadiums are for elite clubs. This is why many of our fans want us to push over the 70k capacity for our new stadium.

Honestly, I can see Chelsea playing there full time. Does England need a national stadium for Rugby? We have this debate over football, let alone Rugby. How many times a year is it used? Chelsea buying the place and making it a multi-purpose venue would likely be the best scenario for both the RFU, and Chelsea.
