  1. same person marking Terry as let Anelka cut inside him for the first.
  2. maybe this thread should just be changed to "Will Barton return?"
  3. Outside the top ten in the premiership (baring Sunderland, who do actually have good strikers) which strikers do you consider better than Ameobi, that are not first choice strikers?
  4. i dont think you can say shola ameobi didnt 'perform' in the premiership, when u compare him to the average premiership striker he was more than good enough, especially seeing as he was used only as a back up most years.
  5. has happenned for years and never understood it, hes no world beater, but hes good with the ability to cock it up, he has ability and strength, a bit like bramble, highly underrated.
  6. must of taken a hell of a lot to play tonight, its one thing to start off playing for your father, but then with the knowledge that the fans are singing you're name in support of you following your father’s death and dedicating a goal to him, I reckon as good as that would of felt, it will of also brought home the reality of his loss to the forefront of his mind.
  7. We can only dream of Parkers circular movements now
  8. He does make goals from the right but he seems to spend most of his time away from the right, I might time him against Palace to see if I'm wrong. He does drift into the middle too much, but tonight he absolutely had to because Smith & Nolan were so poor and ineffective. which left simpson completly exposed against their most effective player. guthrie got it badly wrong tonight as even when he drifted into the middle he done nothing. No. All of that means Hughton got it badly wrong. what else did hughton have to offer down the right? pancrate has showed nothing baring pace now and again and that goal, ryan taylor offers only his "dead-ball Specialist skills" guthrie may be out of position with a tendancy to come inside far too often, leave the right back open, and not offer THAT much going forward, but hes much better than any alternative in my opinion. would love to see him play in the centre as people suggest, but without an adequate back up, playing him at right mid makes sence.
  9. Blackburn have songs?! Blackburn have fans?!
  10. daft bint and baldy fucker, filling the gaps with mind-numbingly boring conversations between has-beens and nobodys, what a combination.
  11. awful wall, given may as well of told him where to shoot.
  12. i'm pretty sure even abromovich has said a few times that he hates how bad the atmosphere is.
  13. looking forward to watching motd tonight
  14. N'zogbia seems to score loads this season.
  15. i thought stoke would scrap a win before the match, was going to bet on them but had no money in my account. strange to see the probable demise of liverpool.
  16. A minutes silence for the death of a players relative? No disrespect to Mr Lovenkrands, and my thoughts are with the family, but you can't have a minutes silence for the death of everyone vaguely associated to a football club. we now also can see the true scale of haiti, so surely there should be a mins silence for that? Also, did we hold a mins silence for the bus attacks at the ACN? could just add lovenkrands in their as well.
  17. i assume there is going to be at least one min silence at this? i hope they dont do the shitty clapping thing.
  18. i'd imagine they'll of taken their finances into consideration
  19. All depends on how he feels, he probably wants to be with his family for a few weeks. Was it Babayaro who played against Liverpool and did very well though his mother had passed away a few days before? i thought it was his brother who had died the night before the game and only announced it to everyone after the match? was probably the moment when i had the most respect for him. feel sorry for Peter L, must be a strange week for him. RIP
  20. couldnt get permission to increase the east stand (the buildings behind it are listed) and problems with reinforcing the gallowgate making it hard to expand it.
  21. http://www.journallive.co.uk/nufc/newcastle-united-news/2010/01/15/enrique-targets-50-game-season-61634-25605506/ JOSE Enrique intends to play in every Newcastle United game for the rest of the season as he puts an end to any doubts about his suitability for English football. Enrique was once thought to be too lightweight to handle the pace and power of football in this country as both Sam Allardyce – the manager who signed him – and Joe Kinnear questioned his conditioning. However, the 23-year-old – a £6.3m signing from Villareal in 2007 – has been brilliant this season and is one of the front-runners to become Newcastle’s player of the season, having proved more than capable of handling himself in the Championship. As the only specialist left-back in Chris Hughton’s squad, marathon man Enrique does not want to be given a rest as he looks to break the 50-game barrier. He said: “I want to play 50 games this season. “That is one of my ambitions, although I never thought I would be saying that when I came to England. When I first arrived I needed to be stronger and fitter – it was hard for me at first, but now I feel good. “It took me a bit of time to get used to the style of football, but I am very happy in England and very happy playing for Newcastle. I have been the only left-back in the squad all season and thankfully I have avoided injuries. I hope that continues, because I think to play 50 games in a season is a big achievement for any player. I have never played that many games before, but I think I have only missed one or two cup games this season. I still feel good, there are no problems for me.” Enrique has already made 25 appearances for the Magpies this season and, with 23 games left to play, he does not sign up to the view the FA Cup is a distraction for the team following the comprehensive 3-0 win over Plymouth Argyle on Wednesday night.
