Ah, the forgotten man. Seemed to do pretty well at Everton, not a bad shout. Was Man City's best player in Pre-Season too. He's like what Ameobi would be if Ameobi had talent. Straight swap? Shola is homegrown, they might go for that...

Getting more and more impressed with Mike with every game. He was excellent yesterday. Looks so assured and something we've been lacking at the back for years. Superb signing by Hughton.

Aye, another reason I'd be cautious. His goalscoring record at Bayern was dreadful, he had a great first season at Blackburn but hasn't maintained that. Granted, he's been injured a fair bit but surely that's even more reason to leave him well alone.

Santa Cruz is a tricky one with me like. He's an excellent player, no doubt about that, but he's way too similar to what we already have. We need a smaller, quicker forward, not so much a goal scorer or even a striker, but someone who can compliment Carroll and hopefully prevent him having to chase down his own knock-ons.

I did manage to persuade her that when Newcastle win it's "a different kind of happiness". she seemed pretty reassured after that. Thankfully.

Still can't believe this result. It's one of those results we have when I read in the region of 25-30 match reports online wherever I can! I'm heading to Leeds festival on Friday but just can't get myself excited for it because of this. I upset the missus yesterday afternoon when I said "I can't remember the last time I was this happy"

Aye, I reckon Diamanti would be a decent alternative to Ben Arfa. Granted, ability wise Ben Arfa wins hands down but when you take into account his attitude problems perhaps looking elsewhere wouldn't be too bad an idea.

1998 called, they want their transfer suggestion back.

Wouldn't surprise me if Ashley tables and new offer tomorrow, £2m plus Leon Best.

Where is the appeal in Blackburn Rovers ffs? Allardyce with £100m to spend Imagine how many Ivan Campos you could buy with that.
-
I can't see him getting a starting spot week in week out at Milan, whereas he would do here. Maybe that's the great appeal for him, at least for the time being? I read that he mentioned he'd be played in his preferred position here and would undoubtedly be our 'star player', perhaps that's how he wants it? I reckon he could thrive on being the big fish in the preverbial small pond, rather than a squad player at a bigger club. Ah, who knows.

In Hughton's defence, I assume he's only having to spout this line in order to answer questions from the press. Of course it's frustrating as we haven't made as many new signings as we need but if it was as easy as contacting the club, getting the go ahead for the price we're willing to pay and then agreeing terms immediately then we'd have signed more than the current three I'm sure. I've got faith in Chris and, to a degree, the board. There's still a couple of weeks until the transfer window closes and I, for one, remain optimistic.

Surely regardless of whether there is a clause in his contract or not it's not a very good move for us? I mean, I'm sure he's not going to set the Premiership alight but essentially we'd still be strenghtening a relegation rival.

Shay Given Micah Richards Wayne Bridge Nedum Onuoha Michael Johnson Stephen Ireland Shaun Wright-Phillips Adam Johnson Stuart Taylor Gareth Barry Joleon Lescott Kelvin Etuhu Craig Bellamy Joe Hart 8 from these lot?
-
Am I right in thinking that if we become his 5th club (6th if you count Arsenal twice), he wouldn't once have cost any of those clubs a transfer fee?
-
It's Sulzeer, not Soloman
-
Aye, well De Jong was 4.5m, I swapped him and Essien for Diamanti and Adam. Set piece takers

Always been the same mate. I pick my teams as if I could see them on the pitch, wrong really because you're dead right. I think I've picked awesome players but ones who won't get me many points!
-
One or two. In all fairness I do become easily bored of them. Why do you ask mate?

Joined. Thanks lads. Cech Dawson - Terry - Toure De Jong - Modric - Arshavin - Essien Chamakh - Rooney - Crouch SUBS: Krul, Jose, Jagielka, Song

Aye, well Nile is seemingly acting like a big shot in public is he not? Surely there can only be one reason for that!

Really, really pleased with this signing. Glad it hasn't been dragged out any further.
