De Jong played an interesting CB role towards the end of last season and, as a Midfielder, is more deep lying than Tadic. I'd probably suggest it was a replacement for Ziyech who's on his way.

The issue I have with this is that there's no reason to wait for every target, surely? Rafa is, historically, someone who likes to get his business done early. Of course we've got until the start of the season, but comparing us to the other clubs barely doing any business is dangerous because we don't match what other clubs do even when we are 'spending'.

I imagine Rafa walking in, eager to get things sorted. Charnley will be sat in his little office (imagine Darren Lamb in Extras). Kinnear sat by his side, picking dog shit out of his shoe while singing Mustang Sally.

Think he'll still be there next season. Could be a big one for him learning a bit from Huntelaar. Probably a bit soon for a big move given it was his breakthrough season last year - some breakthrough season though. His movement, composure and range of goals was pretty incredible mind.
