It does seem weird that Erdinc wouldn't want to come to Newcastle given that he's got to be at least 4th choice for them now, maybe lower. Maybe it's testament to his character that he'd rather sit on the bench for a team who look set to be "going places", rather than coming to play for us?

He seems to be doing ok considering he's pretty isolated up top in this game, so he'd fit well into our team haha!

Long's goalscoring record before last season doesn't really set the world alight, shouldn't we be looking for players that are more prolific? Although I suppose you can argue that Ba's record is pretty sound.

Would've been a good signing quite some years ago, now however, definitely not.

It's all well and good saying that we're put off by the fee and wages, but if we WERE in for Gervinho, he would've probably cost the same if not more. For me, N'Zogbia would always have been a better choice than Gervinho, and if we were interested in him for that money then there's no reason we shouldn't spend the same on N'Zogbia. I agree with keeping the salary cap in place for some first teamers and the squad players, but to get the players that are going to take your team to the next level, you're going to have to be willing to break that cap (Ben Arfa, Tiote, Coloccini)! I don't necessarily agree that N'Zogbia deserves that sort of money, but even negotiating him down a little bit puts him on par with salaries we've just cut like Nolan, Campbell and other potential departures (Smith, fingers crossed), surely it's not beyond us to work out a deal if we are genuinely interested?

Marveaux is still a pretty unknown quantity, I certainly wouldn't drop Jonas for him at this moment in time!

Has he ever played out wide like Barton did for us this season? I wonder whether we consider him to be the kind of player that can cover anywhere in midfield or behind the striker, which is why we're interested.
