  1. i'd say it will happen but its not going to be going into transfer kitty just to plug the finances
  2. The word renegotiating, meaing they are in talks with Northern Rock and Addidas, becasue if it was other companies, then it would just be negotiating, and not renegotiating, so it looks like both Northern Rock and Addidas are interested in keeping us on. addidas no surprise there and thats a good thing, probably the best shirt makers imo. northern rock i'd be shocked if they were allowed to keep the sponsorship on as they're owned by the British taxpayer.
  3. it will always be sjp no matter what label they put up to the fans but to sponsors getting their names mentioned every time a game is broadcast from there, everytime highlights are shown on ssn or motd everytime they refer to the man in the hot seat at *insert brand name* stadium every paper report, thats worth a fair wedge. The worst thing of all is sky/talksport etc are going to have a field day with this
  4. I don't think its so much people don't care as a jaded realisation that this is what football is heading towards, this is the first instance of something like this in england it sure as won't be the last if its pulled off
  5. never going to happen but it would be nice if it was the sir bobby robson memorial stadium, as i said never going to happen. It will be whoevers the sponsor next season thats how these things usually work
  6. Been thinking that for a while. But I've been also thinking that was the lowest it got, I now think this is the lowest it gets... Rock bottom feels like it arrived several months ago but Ashley seems to find us a new level at every soul destroying decision he makes. Every decision that he makes lends credence to the arguement that this for him is personal and it's about breaking the back of the club and the fans. Reason? Revenge for turning on him over the Keegan business. Christ knows where we will be when this sad mess ends. I suspect that all that will be left of NUFC is the name itself - as said above, he'll strip it of everything else. honestly I don't think this one is revenge, its ignorance he probably thinks this is a magnificent idea as he just sees the financial boost it would give the club
  7. sadly this is just a sign of where football is going rather than mike ashley himself
  8. cover loses and maximise the chances of getting back to the prem which is what ashley wants, more money for the club that way through tv deal sponsership and "naming rights" so he doesnt have to put his hand in his pocket to keep it running and he has a chance of getting more money for the club through a sale
  9. against the mighty barnsley.............
  10. I think hughton has been making the case to improve the team as evidenced by the loans we've got (those ain't free after all) and i'd say he is probably making a case for some funds to be available in jan, whether ashley will listen who knows
  11. since we're not one of the sky 4 (whom if any of their players got a straight red would have had the fa giving grovelling apologies for daring to ban one of their players) naturally it was rejected, colo or saylor better be ready for monday
  12. What contract? Has he signed? the theoretical contract i suppose and i'd imagine there would be some clause on him returning to coaching role in the event of the club being sold
  13. i think its the same designer who made the emirates whos making this. Does look good tbh but how will they get finance for it banks ain't exactly being nice at the moment
  14. at a wild guess for face to face negotiations, I think also nolan said he pops into the training ground from time to time
  15. Ashley? Indeed... wathcing training waving like a kid grrrrrrrrrrrrrrrr hughton as manager by 5pm then
  16. understanding ashleys motives on any decision is an exercise in futility, all i can speculate on the hughton appointment is one of a) he doesn't think this deal is going to happen so is planning for the rest of the season b) attempt to force moats hand a bit by saying hughton is going to be appointed as manager c) the deal will go through and this is to make things that little bit more difficult for moat if/when he's in out of spite d)it was a completely random decision
  17. that wasn't a good thing as he spent money that the club didn't have either Aye, but before he took it to the extremes in the last few years, in the early Bobby days money was not really an issue most seasons yes he the spending then was more or less in line with earning through champions league however the problem is when we didnt finish in the cl places the spending didn;t correspondently go down to reflect this instead we spent like a cl team but we were 12th-14th. And didn't freddie have some 300m spend on expanding the stadium and other things planned before ashley rolled into town
  18. random theory because a lot of posters here aren't exactly enthusiastic about them
  19. that wasn't a good thing as he spent money that the club didn't have either
  20. someone who isn't a complete tool at board level is a welcome change
  21. well this is what i think, he doesnt want to be screwed over as he thinks he's being by moat, he wants to walk on his terms not someone elses
  22. do not ever ever ever type those words again
  23. this seems to be a case of whos trying to screw who, ashley is desperate to get out everyone knows that and theres no other interest in the club moat knows that too so is trying to get as good a deal as possible however ashley doesn't want to get mugged so to speak despite his desire to get out and wants it all up front, possibly to weaken moats position for the rest of the season even if it costs him personally 20m if moat says enoughs enough and walks away and thats what ashley has to pay to keep the club going
