that was stupid

personally I'd say if a lower league was drawn against a prem (lets say league 1 and below) they get the choice of venue (ie home or away) instead of it being predrawn and keep the entire gate revenue (prem clubs don't need it) to make up for no replays

But if the advertising is free, and the club still makes a profit, couldn't he also take debt repayments out? TBF, I genuinely don't understand the 'we need debt in the structure' comment. my only clue is to keep the asking price around the £200m mark besides even if he took £10m out of the club a year its still the best part of 13 years before its paid back and we all know he's not going to write it off.

How come that never happened under Ferguson? I'm not saying Moyes is blameless but it's hard to win over another managers players etc. Moyes is no Ferguson but he is better than this. They really needed to let him rebuild the whole squad in the summer, and Moyes surely should have demanded it more. He inherited the League Champions. They were the best squad in the country in May. He may have need to tweak things here and there but he's got a fucking great set of players there but he just can't get them playing for shit tbh. the man utd squad never looked as good as their immediate rivals (on paper at least) in Chelsea and Man City their central midfield is basically a steaming pile of crap. Carricks the best of the lot and he wouldn't get near Citys or Chelsea's first teams. And lets not get into the rest of the midfield. Defense was good (well except rb) but age and apathy has caught up with them, Vidic, Evra, Ferdinand are all on the downhill slope plus they've won everything already where's the hunger and motivation to succeed now? Fergie could instill it but he was one of a kind. Throw in the planned replacements in Smalling and Jones being nowhere near the standards required to compete at the highest level (god only knows what position is actually Phil Jones's one because he doesn't look like a cb or cm to me). Rooney and RVP really don't look like they ever want to play with each other. Almost seem to avoid passing to each other at times. Long story short the league title last season was down to the unique brilliance of Fergie, the ridiculous failings of rivals (City and Chelsea decided to implode instead of compete) and massively papered over the cracks.

Dave said Llambias said £31m net in January well when you put in the contracts for a billion years and how much was spent on drink while they were negotiating the deals last jan...........

there's probably some accountancy nonsense I'm not aware of but the obvious one is keep the asking price around the £200m mark?
-
wouldn't rule it out. Is Mata cup tied for the CL?
-
the Kinnear stuff does sound standard practice, certainly the case for a lot of former footballers columns in papers etc. Imagine if he tried to write it himself half of it would be censored.
-
assume its to get a better price for when he sells the club sooner or later.
-
is there a breakdown of the individual numbers for matchday, media and commercial etc?

It is a bit weird TBF, football in general just seems to be proceeding like it doesn't exist. Guess they just think the regulations have no teeth, or no real will behind enforcement. Guess that's probably right. That's because uefa seem to be now only targeting small european teams like malaga, I mean i cannot imagine uefa chucking out real madrid, man city and chelsea for failing to control it's debt. Whats even worse seeing a club like a psg formed in 1970, gets taken over by the some qatar billionaire and gets a sponsorship deal worth a maximum 200 million euros a year. Yeah, I also can't see Barcelona getting thrown out of the CL or whatever. Just will never happen. they can afford clever enough accountants and lawyers to find the loopholes and I'd back the clubs guys as being a lot smarter than uefa's lot.

Hold on, I thought we were told that the Europa League wasn't worth it? I think the overall argument is that the benefit was offset by the lower PL position. yep. partly their own fault given at the start of the season the squad was nowhere near good enough to cope with the additional fixtures.

can't remember the exact terms but the Prems bringing in its own FFP rules iirc.

Bigger than I expected given the transfers

Atletico 3 down to Osasuna

He's at the very least got his team playing with a modicum of style and passion. To me he pisses all over the man who replaced him here. not really most of the time its fairly godawful stuff, just odd blips of style and passion.

Impressive when things are looking bleak for Hughton he pulls off a result like this to buy himself more time

What did Norwich pay for him?, £10m wasn't it? bout £8.5m from what I've been able to gather. Think there were add ons as well but I suppose its unlikely they'll ever have to pay them if they were based on goals I usually like to give players new to the league at least a season but by christ he hasn't even looked close to the standards required
-
they're just a very solid pairing which makes them both look better, compared to Taylor/Williamson which makes them both look a lot worse than they are
-
you know I think this games worse than ours

well 1 and mild suggestions from Anal Oliver last week but I suppose he doesn't count. And he flip flopped rather quickly after the ban given to the Sunday Express
-
seems to have looked like that a lot this season

I like him actually.

Villa were the better team in the first half, but they couldn't keep pressing us for 90 mins. We got in the game with 20 mins left once they ran out of gas. Two shit teams if truth be told. Nah, the 1st half was kind of even. If you ignore the fact they made a lot more chances maybe. They put the ball in the box a bit but didn't create that many more chances than we did. kinda agree, Villa had the better territory (for lack of a better term) but didn't create much out of it and we had by far the clearest chance of the 1st half. Their formation seemed to flummox us for a fair bit of the first half tbh
