Champions League 2023/2024: Group F (Newcastle, Milan, Dortmund, PSG)
Wallsendmag replied to Marko NUFC's topic in Football
I don't think it'll fully hit home till I see us actually in that draw on August 30th. -
I'm sure there was more than 0.1% of them singing it mind.

No man has the right to a head of hair like that.

Pre-season (2025/26) - NUFC to play Atletico Madrid in Sela Cup

Speaking to quite a few mates this afternoon/evening most seem to be giving this one a swerve due to the ticket prices. With CL money being taken next week it appears to be a stretch for a lot. Will be interesting to see what the turnout but I think they might have been a bit ambitious with their pricing. -
Their latest attempt at a comfort blanket is that fans of every other club hate the mags and love them. I can only assume this is the reason that they've complained all season about opposition fans constantly throwing missiles down on them at home games whilst we only have to put up with the odd isolated incident, despite away fans at both grounds being located above home fans, and that we've been invited along to a huge Testimonial game in a couple of weeks time which is already a 50,000 sell out before we head over to The States whilst they've been invited nowhere. It's awful being hated mind.

Think it would though. If he goes in for a crunching tackle or scores a goal and the crowd are up shouting "Tonali, Tonali, Tonali!" he'll know it's for him. Like I say I can't remember the last time I heard our fans sing "Toon Army". The Bruno and Joelinton songs, as good as they are, are just copied from other clubs. The Bruno one was being sung by Chelsea about Thomas Tuchel years ago and the Joelinton one was first crowned by Everton for Richarlison I believe. We have lost our originality somewhat which is a shame.
-
The "Toon Army" chant hasn't been sung in years. Tbf it's simple and effective, easy to sing at the same time, which is what geneates the noise, and something that everyone will join in with, instead of just the SE Corner. Sometimes less is more when it comes to football chants. People expecting all 4 sides of SJP to serenade him with a Whitney Houston song are living in Cloud cuckoo land!
-
Got a feeling his song with just be the simple "Tonali, Tonali, Tonali" as a throwback to the 1990s "Toon Army, Toon Army, Toon Army" chant.

Noticed it's not uniformed. Each top appears to have a different pattern to it.

I love it! Think Castore are designing some brilliant kits for us right now. Just a pity the quality is questionable and availability is hit and miss. I don't normally buy kits but I'll get this one.

I'm wanting PSV, assuming they win the Qualifying game they need to play. Will sit in the home end for both legs. -
It's Jeff Hendrick.

Met him a few years ago when we were in a hospitality suite at Aberdeen. Absolutely top bloke who made time to speak to everyone.

Fans in the lower tiers get soaked as well because the roof doesn't protect from the elements.

70k would be the sweet spot for me. Would move us above West Ham and behind Old Trafford as the 2nd biggest stadium in the UK. Would still be full every week as well. If we were building a new stadium that would be an ideal capacity. However I'd also be happy with staying at SJP if we could redevelop the Gallowgate and East Stands to maybe get us up to 65k or thereabouts.
-
Ibrox is a fantastic stadium. Looking forward to going up there next month. I have no real feelings for Rangers one way or the other, but Ibrox is probably my favourite stadium in the UK. They can create a noise that's unmatched anywhere in Britain and, whilst the fans are very passionate, that's partly down to the stadium design.

Another belter from their site. Casual racism really is rife on there; "I was at Twickenham to see depeche mode and never saw any scumbags there then went to see muse at Huddersfield and sadly saw a darkie with a scum holdall but no tops but on way home called in at Wetherby services and saw an old lady sitting by herself having a coffee with a safc top on".
-
West Ham up to 66k now.

It looks horrible from the outside. Inside, the concourse area is cramped, toilets barely fit for purpose and the seating area is also too cramped and it takes ages to get out at full time. The whole stand needs a revamp. It was built in the early 70s and is massively dated now.

I'll always have loads of time for him. An integral part of that team that got us back up to the PL and whilst a few players have called Bruce out after his departure, he was the one player who called him out for what he was whilst he was still here. Plus he's meant to be class for the dressing room.

Their cumulative losses over the past 15/20 years must be astronomical so it probably isn't sustainable but I'd always champion the case for affordable football for all, so fair play to them for that. One thing I would say is that their prices are a direct consequence of building a stadium too big for their fanbase to fulfil Bob Murrays dream about having a bigger stadium than Newcastle. If they were charging prices similar to Sheff Wed, Leeds, Boro etc (ie similarly sized clubs to them in their league) they would be getting 25/30k at most.

There's loads of reasons a club may or not sign a player. Wages tend to be a big stumbling block for Championship clubs as a lot of them currently operate at a very unhealthy wages/turnover ratio and he'll be on fairly big money here coming in on a free so would depend if he's prepared to take a pay cut or sit on his current contract for it's final year. You're making Sunderland out to be some sort of World beaters when they scraped into the final play off place of the worst Championship in years and the bookies have them down as 10th favourites to win the league next season. They certainly aren't too good for Jeff Hendrick. Obviously he won't end up there as he doesn't fit their transfer strategy of signing young players they can move on at a profit.

Count again please. And how is that even relevant? As I said there's been times on here when plenty of people have disagreed with me but that doesn't mean I'm automatically wrong. You seem to be struggling with the concept that just because someone holds a different opinion to yourself it doesn't mean that they're wrong. Until you can grasp that, a forum that exists on people's opinions probably isn't for you. I haven't got a clue where he'll end up next season and frankly I don't care. The Championship would be my guess. That's his level. That is also the level Sunderland will be playing at. Plenty of people on here believed Sunderland had their chance of promotion last season and blew it so are clearly expecting a lower/mid table finish for them next year.

Point still stands. All about opinions. I'll always back my own.
