  1. We've just bought tickets for the Womens game next month. Was £3 for me and £1 for the bairn. Problem there if you offered loyalty points is that people would buy tickets for events such as these without any intention of turning up, effectively buying a loyalty point. You should definitely get them for home cup games and pre season friendlies though.
  2. Brighton have started doing this.
  3. I've lived in Wallsend all of my life (44 years) and in all that time I can honestly say I've only ever seen 1 Sunderland shirt around here. Strangely that was after a derby match against them at the SoL when Kieran Richardson scored that free kick and some bloke in a Sunderland shirt came walking into the Powder Monkey. Let's just say he didn't get a chance to order his drink.
  4. If they do he'd have the nerve to take partial credit for it as well.
  5. Was sold out including extra seats that Brentford sent back. There's always going to be the odd empty seat as not every ticket holder can make it. Things happen at short notice. Regarding points made about capacity/new stadium; I think it's fair to say SJP is now too small. It's been relegated to 7th biggest in the league (could be 8th when Evertons new ground is open). The demand to watch PL football is off the scale amd is growing by the season. Not just here, everywhere. Just about every team is now selling out every match (Southampton sometimes 1/2k short). You've even got the likes of West Ham who have a far smaller fanbase than us currently averaging 62,500 and that's them in the bottom half and playing in an awful stadium, but that's how demand is. 60k needs to be an absolute minimum. 65k would be ideal. If neither of these scenarios is possible then an alternative venue would need to be considered. A club with our ambitions isn't going to be satisfied with a pretty much mid table stadium when it comes to capacity. However as far as I can see there's only 2 possible sites. Castle Leazes or Arena site if they can buy back the land from whoever bought it. Anywhere else outside of the city boundaries is a big no no for me. We've all been to places like Bolton, Brighton, Wigan etc and these new builds plonked in the middle of nowhere are horrendous and aren't what Newcastle United are all about at all. Someone mentioned digging down. Pretty sure that's what Ajax did at the Arena which increased their capacity from 51,500 to 55,000 so it would be a start if it was possible here.
  6. We'd sell out 60k every week as things stand and we've done nothing yet. If we get a hint of success 65/70k is achievable. I think 65k is the perfect capacity.
  7. Opposite for me. My dad started taking me when I was 6 back in 1984 and that's what shaped me as a Newcastle fan as an impressionable kid back then (the Bobby Robson quote definitely applied to me!). I was hooked from such a young age and going to the match with my dad on a Saturday afternoon or sitting watching Ceefax or Oracle waiting for the page waiting for our score to come around) when we were away are my favourite childhood memories.
  8. We draw a huge support from South East Scotland as well which anyone on the Edinburgh - Newcastle train on a matchday will testify!
  9. Demand at the moment could constantly fill 60k+ seats and the club haven't really done anything yet. 52,000 is nowhere near big enough for what's coming over the next few years and beyond. It's vital that the next generation of supporters aren't locked out like they were back in the 90s. I'm sure our new owners are mindful of that. Football as a spectator sport is more popular than ever now. If you'd told me 10 years ago that West Ham (a club with a far smaller fanbase than us) would be averaging 62,500 in 2022 I'd have laughed in your face! They need to find a way of getting SJP to 60/65k. If not they've got a decision to make.
  10. You want their names? Every home game this season has sold out on the day of sale to members (other than the L7 tickets that they put restrictions on stopping a lot of people buying plus the small amount they have to keep back for GS). If you think we've resched our ceiling interms of support then that's fair enough but I'm certain you're wrong. We could have sold 60k+ for every home game this season if capacity was there.
  11. We were averaging over 51k last time we were in the Championship. Every game has been sold out since Ashley left. You really think demand wouldn't increase substantially if the club has the success that the owners want it to have over this next decade? 52,000 would be nowhere near enough.
  12. Tbf we've been worse than shite for the past 15 years, suffering 2 relegations and knocked out the cups straight away yet crowds still usually hovered around the 50,000 mark.
  13. Shame the lad talks absolute shite cos that would have been amazing!
  14. Haven't got a clue mate! Just seen a few things with todays date on and the mention of Strawberry Place.
  15. https://find-and-update.company-information.service.gov.uk/company/03304860/filing-history Probably nowt (and I don't really know what it means ) but this happened today. Anyone any clue?
  16. I honestly don't know how I'd have coped and that's the truth! From that perspective I can understand the scale of the meltdown on Wearside and the fact that they've picked out human rights as their comfort blanket tbh. They've got nothing really. A middle of the road 2nd tier team, who, without wanting to sound arrogant here, are probably never going to get near us, the club that they set their benchmark against, in many of their lifetimes. It must be completely soul destroying.
  17. There's a couple of them work at my place. They point blank refuse to engage in any football conversation these days. One thing I will say is that they never mention hewman rights, nor have I heard any one else out in the real world. I think that line is more a RTG coping mechanism than anything else, especially as their most vocal protester, Exile, was begging PIF to buy Man Utd a little over a year ago.
  18. Apparently for Take That and Elton John but can't confirm as wasn't at either.

Liverpool will finish above us, I'm sure of that. They still have a World Class squad there and as much as I dislike Klopp he's not a bad manager. They are easily capable of going on a run where they win 9 or 10 games on the spin. Regardless of the League table as it stands I'd be more confident of finishing above Man Utd than Liverpool but I doubt we'll do that either. As I said it's a 3 way battle for 7th in my honest opinion with Brighton and West Ham.

This. We're 7th despite injuries to key players for large parts and lets just say a few dubious VAR decisions have also cost us points. Obviously Liverpool will overtake us but I believe it's between us, Brighton and West Ham (who will improve) for 7th. If we can get our big players on the pitch more often and then flex our financial clout in January I'd make us favourites for that 7th place.

He's playing in a very poor team who've had their worst start to a season in over 40 years. I'd look beyond this season and concentrate more on what he's done in the past when judging him tbh. I've actually attended a Leverkusen home game this season in August. They lost 3-0 at home against Hoffenheim and were beyond dreadful. Admittedly Diaby was pretty anonymous that afternoon but we got talking to a few Leverkusen fans and I was asking about him with us being linked with him and every one of them said the same. Absolutely brilliant and they'll be devastated when he inevitably leaves.

Aye I think he could be a pretty easy signing to do in January, same with Maddison.

I think if we are top 7 by January I could quite easily see them dropping £90m on Maddison and Diaby which would more or less guarantee us European qualification.
