  1. Haha no problem Yorkie! Sorry like but if we've gone from 4th to 8th to once again not qualifying for Europe then clearly the club isn't headed in the right trajectory and we should be looking at a new approach. There were valid reasons for last seasons downturn but the results this season have been pretty poor and a lot of the performances uninspiring. We look a million miles away from the team of 2 seasons ago. If we finish outside the European places and don't win a cup I think they'll get rid, and he should have no complaints about that either.
  2. Aye it's probably just time playing tricks on the memory. Looking back there was some horrific midweek games atmosphere wise. Cambridge at home with 13k there. Southend at home that same season they didn't even bother opening the Leazes End that night and the season before when we played Oxford midweek the crowd was 10k. I was sat in the benches and a mate from school was stood directly opposite in the Milburn Paddocks. He shouted over at me and I could hear him
  3. Don't know mate but they have 90,000 on their waiting list so aye they'd have been massively over subscribed! Not sure if they issue loyalty points to members. I know every year a small number of season tickets are put on sale at Chelsea and as they issue LPs to members, that's how they determine who is eligible to apply for one.
  4. Must admit I hate midweek matches now. Used to love them as a kid. Always used to feel a bit more special in the dark with the floodlights on and the atmosphere was usually better. They are just a chore now. Public transport is utter shit so I was sat there in the 2nd half wondering if I'd be getting a bus, having to fork out for an expensive taxi whilst it sits in huge traffic jams, or facing a 1hr+ long walk back.
  5. They issued loads of new sesson tickets when they moved. They had around 28k ST holders at White Hart Lane and they now have 42,500 general admission ST holders and a further 8,000 Premium ST holders. I'm not sure what the answer is but it's increasingly becoming a problem and it's not going to go away.
  6. Literally no excuse for not qualifying for Europe this season with us having a far lighter schedule than most the teams we are competing against for those positions. If we don't qualify for a 2nd year running I think he'll be sacked, and tbf he probably should be*. *Obviously if we won the League Cup for example that changes everything.
  7. Read something a while back that the average age of a Chelsea ST holder is 58. I reckon the only reason ours will be lower than that is due to all the youngsters in Level 7. It's only going to go up as well.
  8. Probably in the wrong place this but since it's been brought up surely last night again shows that a new stadium could improve the atmosphere 10 fold. I was in the Gallowgate (upper), our so called home end and it was shocking. You look around at the demographic of people in there and in the olden days most of them would have retired to the East Stand or the old West/Milburn Stand by now but they're still sat there behind the goal draining the life out of the place. Noticed yesterday, even at 0-0 when the atmosphere was decent, even when a good song goes up there's probably less than 1 in 6 people joining in and looking around the ground it's just pockets of fans trying to get things going but they're just too diluted and spread out. The SE Corner is still the best bit but even they went pretty quiet 2nd half. You've got maybe 1,500 or so in there doing their best. Pockets of fans in the Gallowgate Upper, maybe numbering 1,000 or so were trying to get things going as well. Fair play to those in the NE Corner as even in the 2nd half you could hear them trying to rouse the team and then you've got someone the young 'uns up next to the away fans in L7 who sing. Problem is they're all so spread out. A new stadium would enable us to get them all together, in one stand and immediately you've got a good few thousand like minded supporters all in the same place and an immediate upturn in the atmosphere. I mentioned this the other day about the acoustics and once again it was evident tonight. Literally couldn't hear the away fans from where I was sat but I left on 85 cos the buses are an absolute joke for midweek games (ended up having to walk back to Wallsend after Wimbledon) and the West Ham fans sounded very loud as I was walking past the Labour Club and could still hear them on Percy Street, yet not a thing inside the ground! A stadium that retains the noise would be much better than the design we have now.
  9. Was vert good in the Gallowgate 1st Half. 2nd half died a death understandably given how shit we were.
  10. Was in the Gallowgate tonight. Took a couple of photographs and honestly they look sensational. They'll be on my camera reel forever. Haven't got a clue how to pit them on here so don't ask! Was the highlight of the night. Once again they've done themselves proud and well done the Leazes End for what looked like a 100% participation.
  11. Got a spare for this Gallowgate Upper. £40. Anyone wants it DM me. Will have to meet outside ground and come in with me as it's already in my Google Wallet.
  12. Relying on the Leazes End full stop doesn't end well. Remember them somehow turning a huge surfer flag into a bow tie at the Brighton match. I'm in the Gallowgate tonight so will get a good look at it anyway. Hope they don't mess up after all the hard work that's been put in.
  13. Not being an arse at all, sorry if that's how you took it
  14. I think he was just stating that less than 4 months into the season (16 games in) to go an entire month without winning and still being top, or level on points at the top now, is pretty unusual. They could also easily be top by 11pm on Wednesday. All they need to do is beat West Brom who sit in 6th place despite only winning 1 in their last 10!
  15. A quick check shows them 8 points behind the leaders and 8 points ahead of 13th placed Brentford so not very well would be my guess!
  16. Think Burnley might be hamstrung by having Scott Parker there. Agree theyve definitely got 3 of the strongest squads but think Leeds and Sheff Utd will finish above them. Shows the state of that league when they're only 16 games in, mackems haven't won for a full month now yet they're still level on points with top team Leeds
  17. I've done that before. Season before last I went to watch North Shields v Whitley Bay at dinner time and then went to SJP for a night time KO v Man Utd. Great day!
  18. RTG mustn't have received that particular memo then given the talk of them pissing the league this season and putting us in our place next season!
  19. No wins in a month and knocked off the top by Leeds. HMS Piss the league has sprung a leak.
  20. All the clubs around here, Heaton Stan, Benfield, North Shields, Whitley Bay all see a big dip in attendance when NUFC are playing at the same time. Blue Star try to play on a Friday night if NUFC are playing on the Saturday.
  21. I'm almost certain we played at home on the day Bobby Moore died. Pretty sure it was a midweek game as well. Remember us driving into town and that was all that was on the radio. Was massive news. Don't think there was any minutes silence at that match anyway
  22. If you're in parts of the Strawberry Corner (the back of blocks C and D) you literally can't see or hear the away fans. They may as well not be there. If you're in the Gallowgate you can't really hear the away fans and when you're at that end of the ground you can't really hear the Gallowgate. However if you've ever left the match early when we've been getting battered you can hear the away fans loud and clear as you walk past the old Barker & Stonehoise and down past the Labour Club. Purely down to the stadium design and the noise escaping from it.
  23. The 36k SJP was far better than the one we currently have. It held the noise in, and added to that our fans were generally more noisy back then as well. For example the Leazes and Gallowgate were about on par with each other for noise, in fact the Leazes was probably better as it was built a year earlier and most of the singers managed to get in there. It's a complete morgue now and as someone who sat there as level 7 was built above it you could feel the life being sucked out of it and eventually, me and many others moved to the Gallowgate (I lasted till 2005/06 before shifting). I've said it before but I've never been a fan of the current SJP. I don't like level 7, I don't like the Leazes End. East stand is well past it's prime. Was in there for the Magic Weekend a couple of years ago and it felt even more cramped, both at my seat and in the concourse than I remembered. The £900 or whatever it costs for a ST in there now is 100% for the view because you don't get anything else. The current design also doesn't lend itself to a good atmosphere. The vast open spaces of L7 loses a lot of the noise as it drifts over the smaller stands. As a comparison I've been lucky enough to be at Ibrox for a big game and you can actually hear and even feel the noise rebounding off all 4 stands as they are all of the same height. Not too dissimilar to big games at the 36k SJP but a bit more intense if truth be told. For me that's the big thing. Atmosphere. A new build allows to to start from scratch. We can have a 20/25k Kop style stand behind one of the goals which is a game changer. At the minute our singing end is 1,500 in the SE Corner which in amongst a 52k crowd is a drop in the ocean. Obviously other benefits as well on the financial side and another big thing is we wouldn't be financially hamstrung by it for a while like Arsenal and Spurs and we wouldn't be paying it off. Nothing lasts forever and if the option is there, and it's the right option, capacity, location etc, it's a no brainer for me. I'd be sad to leave SJP, but not devastated. It in no way resembles the SJP I was first introduced to back in 1984 so it's just a patch of land to me in all honesty. If we can more to another patch of land a couple of hundred yards up the road then that's not a problem to me.
  24. They're absolutely obsessed with that fucking airport like. I mean seriously how can an airport in another city get people so worked up!
  25. Remember seeing him play for Benfield quite a few times. Very decent player is Cyril.
