Only a select few men have ever known the immense pride and happiness that comes from having that medal placed around their neck. The idea of giving it away seems unthinkable. Not for Daniele De Rossi. The Roma midfielder has not only given up his most prized possession… he has done so in the most amazing way imaginable. Pietro Lombardi, the kitman for Italy when they won the 2006 World Cup, recently passed away, aged 92. Nicknamed "Spazzolino" (toothbrush) because he did such a great job of cleaning the players’ boots, Lomabrdi was enormously popular with the 2006 squad, including De Rossi. That's why, according to a story in Gazzetta World, De Rossi took his World Cup medal to Lombardi's funeral… and left it in his friend's coffin. We can only assume he felt Lombardi deserved some silverware of his own. One thing we do know: De Rossi just proved footballers can often be very, very decent human beings.

Wasn't Johnson signed by O'Neil ? Who just happened to choose Roy Keane as his assistant manager for Republic of Ireland.......

You think ? West Ham, surely have a large enough following to fill a stadium of that size, what with all the people in the eastend of london and essex, and cheap tickets.
-
Aye, it was mighty mouse. Our club really could be very different if we had appointed Cruyff, instead of Dalglish. Such a shame, but oh well.
-
Aye that's a good song, bet it's butchered inside the stadium, though.

Neil custis of the sun( Newcastle fan ) on Sunday supplement, says he did a good job at Newcastle, and can't understand what is happening at crystal palace, and something must be going on behind the scenes, for pardew to have fallen so far.

It's absolutely mental, man. I can't get my head around it. Apparently training has been absolutely fantastic and the the mood in the squad has improved beyond belief. The speed and the quality of the sessions so far is also apparently incredible. How do you know ?

Really ? Could you post them ?

from rawk Rafa was in a bar in West Kirby Saturday Night, a couple of mates were there. They asked the bartender what he was drinking and got a bottle sent over to him. He came over spoke to them and hinted that he was taking the Newcastle job, sees them as a sleeping giant. I told them he was talking bollocks.

Still lives in boro apparently

What's his record against Allardyce ?

Exactly this, with so many reports of what is going on, if his position wasn't untenable before, it certainly is now, or at least it would be at a normal club.
