So we get a scenario where because Man Utd, Arsenal etc were successful at the right time in the PL history, they get to form part of a small group of teams that earn significantly more money than everyone else? Bollocks to that - absolutely no reason why someone shouldn't be able to fund a team's success in a non-organic way.

How do you not know if you do or don't have to go into work tomorrow? Because I work as a lawyer and unfortunately that kind of thing happens a fair bit if you have a deal on. For example, was meant to be playing cricket today but had to pull out last minute to work a 9 hour day. Oh right. Wasn't the best story..!

I'd agree with that. He is not injury prone.

Think it's a real shame that Essien has had so many injuries over the last few year.

I think it would look great and ultimately I would love it to happen - but I don't think we need or would fill a 60,000 stadium on a regular basis. It would be completely dependent on us being quite good. Unless it will allow cheaper tickets to be sold to youngsters etc and make NUFC more accessible for more people. If we are sitting in 10th place next year, I can't see us getting 50k+ attendances every game.

How much would it cost to extend the Gallowgate? Must be a pretty large amount - but I suppose if you get an extra 10,000 seats it would generate a fair bit of money coming it. I thought that there were problems with the foundations behind the Gallowgate though that would make it hard to do. I suppose you also have the issue of the metro as well.

I genuinely think this is my favourite set of players I have seen. I loved the Bobby team which obviously had some absolute legends and seemingly good guys in it (Shearer, Speed, Solano etc) and the Keegan team (Ferdinand, Lee, Beardsley etc), but they both had their share of players I didn't like that much (more the Robson team in all honesty). But this bunch are just all so damn likeable.

Chelsea had no ideas other than long diagonal balls from Terry up to Torres/Drogba. I was amazed that they didn't try and get the ball down more and pass it around.

Don't know how he thought it was right to give Tiote the yellow after one challenge (from where I was it didn't even look like a foul, more a coming together), but didn't book Chelsea players for similar, if not worse, challenges.

Surely he going to ping one in soon from those runs he makes? He's almost Ben Arfa like in the way he beats people. Don't know if anyone else at the match saw but at the end when the players came over, he did a little dance - seemed to be enjoying the chanting.

His timing for his tackling is exceptional.

There are no words. Simply amazing. I love this team.

Ferguson did KK up like a kipper. The mind games were Keegan's downfall and he just ended up looking very naivet. I can see why people say it was passionate, but Ferguson had set out to wind him up and KK just looked daft in biting. never agreed with this. it wasn't mind games it was whining "why do teams play harder against us than them wwhah whah whah" if it was a manager at the bottom doing it no-one would call it mind games and it the same sort of crap the fans come out with every week to make excuses for their teams. after it was called mind games ferguson did try it deliberatly the season after with wenger, arsene kicked his arse. What Dave and Madras said. Ferguson's 'mind games' is one of the greatest myths surrounding English football. People love to make out as if he is a genius when it comes to the psychological aspect of the game - when if you look at the facts, his team has imploded quite a few times under pressure.

Poor guy is a turnip before a ball has been kicked. That article came straight out of Page 1 of journalistic cliches - successful maverick is passed over in favour of establishment man. Martin Samuel writes in a very catchy and fluent style, but the content doesn't always match up. I don't know how he has the nerve to say at the end 'The pity for Hodgson is that, as at Liverpool, he may be rejected in the minds of many before the job has even begun'. If you think it's a pity, Martin, I don't think you're helping. Martin Samuel is a very strange journalist in relation to the quality of his articles. Sometimes capable of writing some intelligent, thought-provoking stuff that is far more interesting than your run of the mill football journalists, but other times he just writes utter nonsense. This being one of the utter nonsense articles.
