We said exactly the same last year about them coming up from league 1, and that they'd go straight back down etc. No reason whatsoever they can't win the play offs this season, they're better than Millwall, Blackburn, Norwich and on a par with Middlesbrough so would fancy them against any of those. Then when you come up to the Prem who knows, could be shit like Forest, or could have one of them seasons like Sheffield United, its not beyond the realms that they could stay up next season. The bottom 8 of the prem are shocking this season and only 3 of them will go.

If Sunderland get in the play offs, which unfortunately I think they will now, then i wouldn't at all be surprised they win them, they'll be going I'm with such a buzz getting in at the last minute etc and so many times the team that does that ends up winning them

Aye that's the one you're right, think I was getting a mix of that one and 5-3 at their place the year after! Remember that Jenas goal, absolute beauty and everything felt possible at that moment, was devastated when they started ripping us apart, scored 4 in bloody quick succession, think Shola got the consolation at the end

Weirdly we seem to beat these more when we're shit. Whenever we've been doing relatively well I always remember us getting beat, that 5-2 hammering under Bobby at SJP when we were just about in the title race going into it, they also beat us 2-1 here around that time, obviously the 1-0 I'm 95/96 too, thats what's making me doubt us today even though I think we're just as good as them this season.

Obviously the relegation season was doomed from the start it seemed, but there's an alternative reality where Keegan stayed and built on what he had done at the back end of that season, got us back into Europe and then moved upstairs, he had found the system that worked and with his signings that summer I've no doubt he'd have got us going.
