I only saw the post I quoted, so if that is the case, then thats fair enough I still completely disagree entirely with what you where saying

So i've kind of not really posted on the forum in a while, as to be honest, I disagree with a lot of the "Howe Out" stuff (I think he deserves a lot more respect then he's currently getting), and generally I try and stay away from negativity, but this has kind of irked me, as it feels like you're being quite needlessly condescending. Todays performance wasn't amazing, we rode out luck at times, and Brighton had some guilt edged chances. Infact I think they probably deserved a draw. However, so did we! We created some really good chances ourselves, and where the better side in the first half and deservedly went in ahead. Brighton then came out strongly and played like a side that were 6th and riding high on confidence and we played like a team that had lost 5 on the trot, and where really nervy (the prime example being Thaiw who's usually quite composed on the ball, just giving it away time and again) which is to be expected, its basic human nature, if you're low on confidence you tend to go into your shell, and to snap the streak we'd been on it was always going to be like that. Overall I would say there are probably more positives to take from today than there are negatives, and in a period where its been really turgid, where we have been really up against it, people are going to latch on to them and be happy that we got the win, and did so against a good side that tend to be our bogey team, so let people enjoy the win without acting superior.

I don't know, Costa Brava in Barcelona is meant to be pretty lovely.

Its going to be weird going from having a game every 3 days going back to September, to having a full 3 week gap after Sunderland. I'm so fucking glad for it too
-
Yeap, this new format is turgid, and purely an attempt to keep the Super League clubs in line, without a care in the fucking world about the welfare of the players and fans.

Made me giggle this

One thing I will say, having the derby at home straight after this result is kind of perfect. Firstly, because its the sort of game where you can't hide and let your head drop, and secondly because usually after a hard loss the players respond and put in a performance in the next game.

I can't stress then enough, I really really hope this doesn't happen. Arsenal winning something like the Champions League with their anti-football, will make other people look at it and try and emulate. It's bad enough in the Premier League already, hopefully how shit the English teams have done in the Champions League this past week makes some revaluate the low block, set piece driven dross we've seen this year.

He's probably been our best midfielder over the last couple months, one swallow doesn't make a summer

That second half was so bad that it kind makes it easier to move on as a fan. So many individual mistakes, and against a team like Barcelona that can score 2/3 even if you do everything correctly, it was always going to be costly. It felt like that penalty before halftime was the key, in the second half we got stuck between a rock and a hard place, and they capitalized in our indecisions, and as soon as the 4th went in, we mentally just collapsed, and folded, which can happen to any team. That said, I hope we as a club don't get down about it, like Ramsey looked disconsolate after he gave away the 7th, and I don't want the players to wallow in it too much, because as much as it hurts right now, overall for 135 minutes we more than matched them, and where probably the better side, and I think there is a hell of a lot the squad can learn from these two legs, and with a 3 week gap between the Sunderland game and Crystal Palace, hopefully there are some introspective moments and analysis of what we did right and how we mitigate the faults, I think a lot of it will by phycological, given how many times we shot ourselves in the foot, and some tactical, so hopefully next time we're in this position the squad can be better equipped to deal with the pressures. While it stings now, I can't be more proud of the team as a whole, weve had an excellent campaign in the Champions League, created some excellent moments, scored some wonderful goals, and went toe to toe with probably the best team in Europe for a the majority of the tie, and we did it in an attacking and whole hearted way. Thats my club, and long may it continue.

The Conference League is basically the best thing that UEFA have done this century, that and the Nations League, they're competitions that allow the smaller nations that don't normally get a chance to play in Europe a chance to do so. Something like 11 nations have reached the group stage of a European competition for the first time since its got introduced, thats invariably a very good thing, it gives them teams a chance to grow and get the exposure of playing in Europe, gives their fans experiences they never thought possible. The problem is that people in England and look at the teams in it and scoff, when them smaller teams are what make the tournament great.

They're 2nd bottom on League 1, 6 points adrift of safety and are absolutely desperate

Man United fixture congestion is completely the opposite of ours at them moment, due to them not being in Europe and going out of the domestic competitions early. Between our game against them a couple of weeks back on the 4th March, and their game against Leeds on the the 13th April, they only have 2 games, in what is basically 5 weeks. On the flip side we have 6 as a minimum, potentially more if get through against Barcelona tomorrow.

The new Club World Cup is invite only, and was only set up as FIFA felt left out of the Champions League revenue stream, and was every bit a capitalistic invention created for non sporting reasons, which makes it very hard for me to get in anyway behind, especially given the obscene amount of football already being played. Its lucky I put it above the Super Cup and Community Shield which are just glorified friendlies tbh

I always love this discussion, personally, I see the value of each competition as the following: Premier League > Champions League > FA Cup > Europa League > League Cup > Conference League > Club World Cup > UEFA Super Cup > Community Shield

Other than Arsenal, all of our remaining games are against teams that are below us in the league currently. Given our form this season, i'm not sure if this is good news or bad
