Van Persie has only scored like two goals in his last twelve games. His second half of the season hasn't been great. He still contributes to the team even when he doesn't score, but I don't think he deserves it over Mata.

I never mentioned Giggs. See below. I'm not justifying anybody elses inclusion, this year or any other year. I don't think any of the three should really be in there. They've all been very good at some stage of the season but the awards should go to whoever was the best player over the whole season. Should be 30 games plus.

Nastasic hasn't played enough. Not even half of the season and I'm not sure how many were starts. Benteke for the young player.

Bale has scored five less goals than Suarez in five less appearances and is a winger. Mata has ten goals and a shitload of assists and his generally all round play has been phenomenal. This one is going to be really close between those three.

Delighted for Carrick. I'd personally go for Mata, but I think Bale will win it.

Actually, they applauded him when he was stretched off. I remember the game extremely well, like yesterday. If you find a video of the incident you'll hear the song, and you'll hear their boos drown out the applause of our fans and a small portion of theirs. Trust me. EDIT: Drown out is the wrong description, but the boos are loud and clear.
