    St James' Park

I appreciate its still new and shiny but even still I did think when I heard the capacity was only 3k it sounded way too small…

This. Obviously I want them nowhere near EH so that maybe clouds my thinking but ultimately if they don’t give it to Carsley FT what’s the whole point in ST Georges Park etc. Also I don’t think EH’s strengths are what are needed at international level. Not saying he wouldn’t do a decent job but you could equally find him looking as stubborn as Southgate in his selections once he gets sucked into the FA culture.

Sensible choice for the interim. Think they’ve only a couple of pretty meaningless games until 2025. Whats the rush?

Maybe Emerton and Barnetta are the half time guests

I agree with most of that. Where I would question only slightly is Gabriel (He’s still good so I guess he makes the list but Saliba makes him look better than he is IMO). Van de Ven is very fast but I’m not sure he’s great at defending but it’s only been one season so happy to leave the jury out on that one. I’m pleasantly surprised you had no mention of VdV partner Romero. Not wanting to speak for you but do you also agree he’s massively overrated by Spurs fans? I think he’s absolutely headless and slow. Tough/dirty I get but honestly think he’s a liability.

With the rules as they are selling youth products and our older purples to buy younger newer purples but hopefully in a more sensible and strategic approach than Chelsea. In reality if we can navigate this season and continue our growth off the pitch if we keep buying smart we should only need 1-2 players a season which I think would suite EH also.
  7. Why do you think that? They’ve 20k seats to sell and even more £ via NUFCTV.

You said “Who cares if we pay over the odds, it’s not your life savings they’re spending” I’ve explained why I disagree and how it effects the club & fans. I’ll leave it there.

I know. I do get both sides of the fence. Would be great not to have to think about it when building a team. I’m guessing the Cartel fans spend a lot less time factoring it into their potential signings. On the other hand I’ve always seen it as our (fans) money to an extent and especially now when it has knock on effect that it probably forces clubs to hike prices for fans they probably previously may of been less ruthless about. So the smarter we are with our signings (and sales) the better for the club and fans it’s self. You are still missing the point. The days of saying it doesn’t matter how much we spend on a player if its the one we want are as it stands over. So I may not “worry” what we spend it is highly important as I’ve explained above.

It’s never a waste of time as it just moves to the next window ultimately. Just different positions.

Yes but making offers is one thing and what the other clubs will let them go for or buy from you is not the same No expert can go into a window and say for arguement sake and the fact it was muted we’ve £100m to spend… We’ll have Guehi for £50m and Neto for £50m thanks very much whilst also thinking and we will sell Miggy for £30m thanks very much to help with January window. Yes they will know how much we can spend but you’ve just proven my point it does matter we get the lowest fee possible rather than the pay whatever it takes (it’s not our money) approach.

I kinda agree with point 1. Definitely with point 2 and 4. However you’ve repeated point 3 a few times and sadly that is no longer the case. It effects what we can do for the rest of this window and following windows sadly unless they scrap the PSR rules.

    NUFC Transfer Rumours

Spurs fans seemed to of had enough of him. I’ve noticed when watching him he seems to down tools quick when the game not going his way. Had a good impact but once coaches have watched him I think he’s been fairly easy to nullify and as others have confirmed he’s not very quick so doesn’t have that in is locker as a plan b. Would be very disappointed if we signed him.

I also think the reason for the slow progress is the Palace ownership structure. It’s an open secret nobody really knows who owns them being linked with Delaware and their main USA shareholders and the only name we know of other than Parish (John Textor) was recently wanting to sell up and get involved in Everton. So with a lot of secrecy/laundering/timing involved its probably a bit of a nightmare. Remember when I flagged up on here about two weeks later that Olise hadn’t been confirmed after it was assumed it was done. I think there are a lot of interested parties and different lawyers involved with anything involving Palace.

Good chance it will end up £55m and I think most on here (including myself) would accept that as fair if ultimately at the top end and a touch over what we think he’s worth (Guessing obviously but £65m minus 20% is £52m. As for Palace £18m to £44m is £26m profit after sell on). I just think you walk away or take a breather from the deal if any higher. My guess is we get him undisclosed but works out at £52+£3m or £52m and maybe a sell-on for Palace. Who knows but pretty sure he has 2yrs not 1yr on his contract unless it was an option of the extra year in his favour.

    Marc Guehi

Don’t think anyone is arguing that Palace shouldn’t try and get as much as they can for him. The argument is his worth to us and if at what point we decide to walk away. How much would you pay for him?
  17. LFEE

    Marc Guehi

Well thats obvious but the argument we are all discussing is is he worth it. You seemed to add justification that because there was 20% going to Chelsea there was. I’m arguing thats only the case because they got him cheap at £18m they had to forfeit 20%. Yes exactly that and it’s better for PSR which was probably not even a thing when they bought him. All clubs knowing they have a sell-on fee try to get ABOVE market value. That’s why if they are after £65m the truth is they know he’s value is around £52m and we are slowly increasing our bids towards what we feel is book value. If you’d bid before the Euro’s (arguments aside if he’s performed well or not or a future regular) there asking price I recall was £40-45m. Which is the region of our first bid.
  18. I’d imagine its a case of easier for the police to control that area (hence why they held PSG/Dortmund/Milan fans there) and lets be honest not much going on at 10am around there for most of the day until maybe early evening. Won’t be surprised if its all a damp squib TBH.
  19. LFEE

    Marc Guehi

Yeah but they only have a 20% sell on because Palace ONLY paid £18m for him a couple of years ago. Can’t have it both ways.

Well it looks like we are currently does it not? Clear away all the guff spouted. We’ve two positions to sort all window. RCB and RW. So far we have neither. We want to ship a RW ideally Miggy. We haven’t been able to do that either. Hopefully before the end of window we will have what’s looking like MG as our RCB put likely played out of position hence why we might think we can delay. No clear and obvious RW targets it seems being discussed so likelihood those negations haven’t even started (to be leaked) as not close to selling Miggy.

    Marc Guehi

That’s why I keep saying we need to be smart this window. Even if it means buying no one unless we sell as trouble will find us next year and who we’d have to lose would probably take the team further back than any signing this window would take us forward.
  22. That escalated in 5mins ….
  23. LFEE

    Marc Guehi

A sensible one perhaps. I said the other week I thought his value was around £35-45m. Maybe some add-ones. Talk of £65-70m is crazy in my eyes. Especially when they want most if not all up front.
  24. LFEE

    Marc Guehi

Maybe just maybe Palace have asked us to keep quiet until they sort out deals for replacements so they don’t get rinsed completely. Unlikely but possible. Or maybe to reach the amount required we might want to move at least one player on.
