Surely Brighton are able to spend money than us this window and therefore have greater resources than us?
-
Most players will be on holiday still. Would think it will be quiet this week then pick up week after.
-
Definitely. Celtic looking like his destination.
-
Yep. Replayed it a few times and still can’t actually work out what DA says. Subtitles say something like you’ve been sitting there a long time. Presumably due to waiting for his medical.
-
Did he say he or we? Pretty sure as a collective (The 3 on hand owners and EH+Team) wanted him and feel Ashworth just shared the credit. Bit like his statement regarding ETH after only being there a day or two 🙂 Was never keen on Ashworth so maybe it’s clouding my judgement but don’t think he’s shy of taking credit for stuff he had little to do. Probably got him where it has…

Hopefully doesn’t overdo it. Quite like how he can jink across the pitch. Don’t want him to lose his flexibility and become too muscle bound.

Also forgot to add I always thought the lad in the crowd (14 seconds and 4mins.24 seconds) might have been Jean-Pierre Papin!

Any excuse to share highlights of one of my favourite games of all time. Still remember being sat watching it with my dad to this day…
-
Remember EH saying that to Gordon. Don’t recall DA speaking about either player. Not by me it isn’t. Would imagine they’d both been scouted by us.

Has the Olise deal been completed? Last I heard there was complications as Palace wanted the fee all up front?
-
I still feel Ashworth did a completely different job/role at Brighton and probably here than Paul Mitchell will do regardless of title. Never felt Ashworth was the one spotting or suggesting players.

Chiesa is the type of signing Man Utd or West Ham would make. That’s the last I’ll say on him I promise

I’m generally in agreement with the fallacy of stats in football and obviously I’m not going to argue in a better team a forward and his stats should improve. That said I think the hype just needs to be toned down a bit as 14/132 or whatever it was for a forward seems poor. Less than 5 goals a season. Looks comfortable with two feet which I’m all for but generally judge players when they play against us as get a closer look and I can’t say he’s ever stood out that much. I remember everyone raving about him before last home game and I recall one burst into the box which we smothered and that was it until he went off HT presumably injured. Appreciate there are those who’ve watched him far more than me but their concerns about his injury record are deafening. I dare say if we sniff a bargain it’s someone you gamble on. However as EH is slowly constructing his jigsaw without making a transfer blunder (as we can’t afford to) I think we’d virtually all agree RW is the top priority position for long term improvement. Just not sure it’s a price or position we gamble on.

But if he’s going to be one of our front three you’d want better goal return than that still?
-
14 goals in 135 games for Neto apparently. What am I missing?
-
Think he’s on less actually (€800,000 a year) and I only think we’ll pay £21-23m max. Anderson probably has getting a bump up to £40kpw approx and he’s cost £34m. Was probably on around £12-15kpw here, £20kpw tops.
-
A big summer signing would make a big difference for ticket sales. Even Tonali can’t play!
-
Depends on wages offered. Tosin was being offered £100+kpw so 5yr deal = £26m + Unknown signing on fee as a free agent you’d imagine around £10m = £36m This kid is currently on £21kpw so double his wages at £42kpw = £11m + £24m Fee and signing on of £1m = £36m Also gives room to increase contract as time goes on from a lower base and not effect others in the squad.
-
Hopefully they will be easy to transfer to the new stadium when needed… 🤞🏻🙂
-
Hoping he doesn’t rush back. Take as long as it takes.

Very happy with the appointment. From the little bits I know of the current crop he seemed the most attractive choice with a wide range of experience covering different markets. My second choice was the Brentford lad with being a Newcastle fan so thought in this position the assumed loyalty would help build a strong long term relationship with the club and EH. Had a feeling as I’ve mentioned before we were waiting for someone to maybe drift out of a contract period so not having to wait around for them. Either that or just perfect timing. Hope he does a great job and can work well with EH & co. This window probably a bit soon to judge him though.
