With regards to the EH contract I have to say I’ve been quite baffled by the reporting and discussions surrounding it these last few weeks… Was I one of the only few on the planet that knew he’d signed a new deal last summer!? This. Rare for any contract that comes with a sizeable fee to be anything less than 5yrs. Especially a player so young.

Shouldn’t be but like all things in football it’s the Wild West now.

Good players that you are having to convince to join your club tend to say no if they see you selling your better players.

I’d go back to her son and her illness. I know she says it helps keeping busy but there’s one thing keeping busy doing something you can switch on and off when needed and another that would have her travelling around a lot still I’d imagine. That and she’s possibly in a little bit of denial about the illness whilst confirming she’s missed too much time already raising her son. Obviously I’ll be proven wrong if they get involved in a big way with another club but I’d be surprised if it was anything near the level of what she was with us.

More frustration than condescension 👍🏻 They both spent a lot of money but not sure either are much stronger if at all for it. None of them have bought anyone I would say we are the other top teams were clamouring for. Time will tell though. Going forward all the windows will be like this as the stronger our first eleven get the harder it is to find improvements. Especially ones that will justify certain layouts. We are clearly being choked financially by the rules whereas Man Utd and Villa have more wriggle room due to Grealish etc sales and vast sponsorship income. Judge the window when it closes. It’s the only way.

Called it at the time about her son and also her disease. They’ve ultimately hired people to replace themselves Full Time when going forward that would be hard for them and they have to trust those they hired to do the jobs given. They probably realised they were too close (especially to EH & the players) which might cause conflict of interests at certain times of the season when tough decisions need to be made. Shame as it no doubt had it’s benefits also. Wish them nothing but the best for their family and would welcome them back any time they wished to return.

Will be interesting if we have any buy back clause etc in the deal.
