Not even sure what your saying? That our priorities are the same as everyone else's but we're just unlucky in that we get beat early on all of the time where as the rest happen to muddle through every now and then? All I know is that we're terrible in the cups for a number of reasons, and none of them are luck.

Could you make less sense, Ian?

Dave Whelan who's club has a very good chance of defending their FA Cup. "The league is our priority" To quote a wise man from the Facebook thread, actions speak louder than words.

I don't really know, a combination of things from luck, bad player performances to managerial mistakes etc. If the question was for me, I was making a point about approach and specifically not results. It's mostly because the club doesn't have a philosophy about how to play the game. A style of play that is implemented at every level of the club all the way from the kids to the first team. Players in the first eleven might have a clue about what the guy next to them is going to do next but this is down to them getting to know each others style. It should be down to every player following a coherent plan of playing, where to move, where to pass, how to pass, when to slow it down, when to apply pressure, depending on the area of the pitch. This in my opinion causes changes in the squad to make the players look like headless chickens running around. The player coming in doesnt have a plan of play to follow and he doesnt know the other players well enough to guess what they are doing next. It doesn't help when he's starting Shola Ameobi up top and leaving Remi on the bench against Man City either. But aye, we've seen far too many times how much of a spanner in the works us trying to incorporate new faces into the side can be.

How many teams really prioritise the League over the cups?
-
I'm not saying that, I'm saying many teams play weaker sides in the cup and a lot of the time they get knocked out. Other times they make it to a point where they start wanting the cup more and act accordingly. I doubt many teams in the mid to lower half of the league consistently play weakened sides to their Premiership rivals and send the kids out to sides a league below them with the intention of "taking it easy for 70 minutes" like.

We don't have to "muddle through" anything, we just need to turn up when we're playing the likes of Stevenage and Cardiff. You're talking as though the initial rounds are just pot luck and teams only begin trying when they can sniff the semi-final.

That Chelsea game was great tbf Remember Josh Mceachran coming on and looking great, and Anelka effectively being a god amongst the absolute dross around him. -

Pochettino has been there for a year, he'll live and learn. If in a couple of years time he's still not taking the cups seriously we can probably compare him to Pardew, who's been terrible for 4 years now. -

I think there's more than enough evidence to suggest that we don't take the cups seriously like, we have prevous with sending out under strengh sides, taking it easy to prevent injuries, and of course, actually coming out and saying "the cups will be used for team building." Injuries or fake injuries, we were never going to go into that game with a full strength side playing all out to win. -
He might have been dropping bombs of wizz in Shola's pre-game teas. Doesn't seem to have made a difference like.

Maybe the FA could offer him a pay rise, that seems to work a treat. I'm sure they've had sneaky incentive bonuses every tournament, hasn't done much good. People are slating Rooney for past tournaments but are forgetting our current skipper and midfield general has failed to serve up anything either. Should we drop him as well? Gerrard was one of if not the best players England had at the Euros He threw a couple of decent balls into the box, Pirlo showed him up like. If the criteria to play for England was to be a good as Pirlo, then England have a serious problem I don't think it is tbh, I'll have a check.

It was the fact that his problems from the season before were still abundant and he clearly struggled (and still does) to nip them in the bud quickly enough for them to not have been utterly disastrous for me. I can sort of accept boring football if it isn't both boring and counterintuitive. People have had his cards marked since he started dropping Ben Arfa (played a blinder) in his second season in favour of trying to rigidly defend us out of a rut. He hasn't changed at all since then.

Fergie had a dodgy start too mate!

I'd play him behind Sturridge with Welbeck and Sterling on the wings personally. Probably Henderson and Gerrard/Lampard behind in the centre. I don't think we've got anywhere near the quality in the side to drop him completely.
