  1. What the feck is the ref supposed to be looking at at a corner if not the ball?
  2. Don't like to credit Spuds for anything, but they usually get good fees in and don't give owt away.
  3. Shola's got 5 in 10 league games against them. Unleash the beast!
  4. In business terms, perhaps the City of Newcastle (i.e., the people) could trademark "Newcastle" and only licence the name to the club if it operated in the interests of the people. Ashley and those before him may own the club but none of them have ever owned what the club represents. They are getting a free ride on tradition and regional pride.
  5. Well, after heavy words were so lightly thrown, here we are with him about to start in the season opener. Go get them Joey son!
  6. Moneyball fc 1 Arsenalreject 1 @topfouryourehavingalaugh
  7. Fantastic case for the prosecution there.
  8. Must admit to celebrating that goal. A draw would be least worst for me. Lots of cards though please.
  9. For anyone playing commentator cliche bingo, Sky Sports took 58 seconds from kickoff to give it the "famous European nights at Anfield".
  10. With Woy, there's hope! Give them Shola. Didn't WBA have the second lowest wage bill after Blackpool?
  11. Yes, I meant the managers, not Ashley and his cronies for a change. I'd forgotten about Duff, but yes, ffs on that one too.
  12. Pulis looks pretty handy so I can imagine him chinning Barton if he gets any backchat about who takes the freekicks or whether he's supposed to play for throw-ins.

    Alan Pardew

Yeah, we should have kept them waiting. The real danger is that targets one, two and three (assuming there's even three) won't want to know, will ask for extra money thinking we're desperate, or will fail the medical.
  14. I think we effed up with him, but the main mistake was being too wary of playing him in the relegation season and before. The net result was that we also pissed off N'Zogbia by playing him left back instead. Once we were relegated and he played regularly, Jose really shone, but it was still only the Championship. That meant that with two years left on his contract, he was still untested in the Prem. Once he proved he was a capable Prem player, there was too little left on his contract for the club to have a strong negotiating position, leaving him free to get the deal he's been pushing for pretty much since January. With better use and man management, I think N'Zogbia and Enrique would still be here. Its a kick in the knackers.
  15. Might as well be patient and give experience to a promising but inexperienced striker we own rather than one of ManUre's. Prem to prem loans ultimately only benefit the bigger club. Sturridge and Wellbeck must have gone up in value by seven or eight million each last year, but Bolton and the Mackems will see none of it. Without the loan system, good young players will be more wary of signing for Chelsea or ManUre knowing they'll struggle to get experience.
  16. Lots of unknowns going into the season, but hopefully it will click reasonably well. Things looked grim when Hughton got booted out and Carroll was sold, but we saw the season out quite comfortably, making the final WBA capitulation all the more wasteful and irritating. Looking forward to HBA most of all.
  17. Better than Routledge too maybe? Obertan only needs one goal in the Premiership to overtake him. Obertan looks fast and very tricky. Some poor decision making/final balls and meh shooting on YT but not a lot of playing time so far. Like Jonas, maybe the trick is to score from the free kicks he wins.
  18. Good to see Caulkin back. 40k mightn't be enough, but it's not "ridiculous".
