Neves would be an excellent signing imo

Allan Saint-Maximin (now playing for Fenerbahce, on loan from Al-Ahli)

His recent upturn in form before getting injured again complicates things. He’s shown how valuable he can be as he adds something nobody else has and we’ve missed him the last couple of games. He also looks to be buying into Howe’s methods. The problem as ever is inconsistency with injuries and he also doesn’t score enough goals. Seemed nailed on not long ago that he’d leave but now wouldn’t be surprised if he stayed next season. Equally if they got a high bid for him I wouldn’t be that surprised if we moved him on as I think there’ll be at least 1 top winger come in. What’s his contract situation? -
If the season was a dead rubber now then I wouldn’t be surprised if they rested him and he had some kind of surgery. They’re clearly trying to manage it as best they can because he can still be effective and we need him for the top four push even if he’s not 100%. We've done brilliantly this season and perspective needed with yesterdays loss but it’s fairly clear where we need to strengthen to go up another level. A proper left back with pace who can help the attack, probably a number 6 type midfielder to help control games, and a top class goal scoring winger. We could probably also do with an attacking midfielder and a right sided centre half who is quick and physical too.

Howe said something along the lines of deafest remind you of what’s needed to succeed etc. A radged up St James and the players with a point to prove is a perfect combination. Kane is a match winner as Son can be but Spurs are brittle and they concede goals. Properly get at them and they’ll buckle. Have to start well though, no pissing about. -

It’s definitely not the same kind of nerves when you’re playing in a relegation battle that’s for sure. Massive games are staying in the league I reckon. We wanted big games against other top sides at 4.30 on Sundays which is a far cry from where we’ve come from under the previous knacker. St James will be quality next Sunday. I have a sniff of a ticket so hoping I’m there. -

You would assume and certainly hope the players are bang up for this after today and St James will be proper radged up. Spurs are brittle man, get at them and they’ll fold. They are always liable to grab a goal with Kane and Son though so we need to stop pissing about early on and fully go for them. Need a Man U performance. -

It is but we could draw and stay 3 points clear with a better goal difference and a game in hand. Need to win though with a huge reaction today and pretty much put the issue to bed. -

The Spurs loss today totally changes the dynamic and mindset going into the game for Spurs IMO. They had to win today given who they’ve got coming up, with us Man U at home and Pool away and their games after that aren’t easy. -

That’s a killer loss for Spurs today going into their next few matches -
Dreadful but take it on the chin and move on. It’s sport, you don’t always win. Spurs next weekend is the bigger game I feel.

Yep Villa have definitely shown Burn up as one of our weak links today. He’s been solid but against this press, pace an athleticism he’s going to struggle.
-
Yet some will write him off completely after today
-
He’s excellent, top class manager
-
I really like Dan Burn but we desperately need to upgrade our left side with a new left back in the summer.
-
I don’t dare look on Twitter ?? They’ve played really well, we’ve been shite, there’s still 45 mins to go. It’ll be Armageddon for some though.

Aston Villa vs. Newcastle United: 15/04/23 @ 12:30 (BT Sport)

It’s going to be very tight, I think it might be a draw. We could very well win it but if we lose (despite the no doubt Villa furore that will come with it) it won’t derail our season. The recent wins have given us some wiggle room and the Spurs game is probably the bigger one in terms of top four. Beat them and we’re getting very close to it. -
I agree. In many ways he’s the perfect signing for us but the transfer fee and wages would be astronomical. He’d want way higher than our highest paid player and that then knocks everything out of kilter. I’m not saying there’s no chance it happens but I see him going Arsenal or Chelsea (his boyhood club) or maybe even City? I think we will probably opt to spend 35-50 on a midfielder (e.g Edson Alvarez at Ajax) allowing us more financial room to sign quality in several other positions. Either way though Champions league qualification really does make the summer very interested indeed.
-
He’s a Chelsea fan, all his family are
-
Makes sense as a signing, provides both striking and wing back up.
-
Ah I see, cheers ?
-
If you consider that at the very least we’ll have a new shirt sponsor and highly likely at least one other source of sponsorship. Put that together with annual premier league money and potential champions league revenue then they should be able to really kick on this summer. I guess the top four finish is the game changer in terms of targets and outlay. Veering into the transfer thread I know but I’d expect at least 4 top quality signings who could potentially start plus 1 or 2 young work in progress potentials.
-
How does it work with premier league ratifying sponsorship deals say if someone wants to sponsor the ground, training ground, shirt etc? Does the premier say “well your income is X and therefore we think they can only sponsor you Y?

Yeah Isak is pretty much ideal for this game I feel as Villa will come at us. Use Wilson as an option off the bench or even go with a front 3 of Isak, Wilson, Murphy or Gordon. I think he’ll want to use Wilson and/or Gordon as impact subs unless Gordon starts in this. -

I was reading on one of their message boards and they seemed confident of scoring but a few has mentioned they make mistakes at the back so were concerned about that.
